of all the worlds she had found herself stumbling upon, this was the one she held closest to her heart so far. the atmosphere, the shops, the sense of delicate regality that seemed to line the streets -- here she could very nearly feel at home, or as close to home as she could manage. from the fashions lining the windows of the boutiques to the towering marble of museums, it is hard to choose a place to start her day, which she has already dedicated to combing her way through the streets.
just as she is pondering her options, a scent catches her attention and wastes no time in holding it. it’s sweet, smooth, and yet there’s a bit of a bite somewhere in there. her steps come to a complete stop as she makes out the source of the intoxicating aroma. it appears to be a corner bakery, at least from the appearance on the outside. she wastes no time diverting her course to enter the shop, her decision about where to begin her exploration made with no doubts in mind.
but when she enters, she is overwhelmed with shelves and displays full of colorful sweets and delicate pastries. to say she did not know where to begin would be an understatement -- in truth, all she knows is that she would rather like to find the source of that smell and find out if the food tastes as mouthwatering as its aroma would indicate. moments like this, she has no issue relying on those who know the area far better than she.
“ Pardon me, but I must know -- What is it that smells so wonderful, if you do not mind me asking? ”
