Can you do this?
Since human affairs are too complex- with many factors that mitigate man's transgressions- and since man must have room to progress even beyond the highest standards of conduct appropriate for the age in which the revelation of the Quran occurred, and such ambiguities are entirely appropriate for God, or so it appears to me. God did not want to stop man dead in his tracks as he marched towards ever greater heights of perfection.
Inayat Lalani as quoted by Paul Findley in Silent No More: Confronting America's False Images of Islam
How do you become more flexible?
Stretching everyday. Easy and gentle at first and slowly progressing into deeper ones so not to pull something and hurt yourself. What I mean is you stretch as far as you can now (so there's a nice stretch going on the muscle but nothing painful! if it hurts, do not do it, bring your legs in a little) and slowly start to work your way to pushing a little further
For splits (this is how i learned to do it) front side lunges like this:
Again only going as far as you can, never more.
You could also do Reverse lunges, again slowly progressing:
Another great stretch, besides a single leg lift (this you just lie on your back and raise a leg into the air, pulling slightly back while keeping the other leg firmly planted) is a straddle which looks like this:
Again for this you basically want to spread your legs as far as they'll go out, keeping your feet pointed out. You can lean over them on either side and down the middle to achive a nice stretch.
I hope that answered your question Anon!Jo
