One of the weirder ones I r picked up in recent months. You can’t really see it but there is a transparent flexidisc glued to the front of this U.K. 7-inch—so the single is inside and the cover plays snippets from the then-upcoming Talk Talk Talk album. Clever and peculiar at the same time.

This is one of those songs that should have been massive. It&frsquo;s got a killer summertime vibe, giant guitar riff hooks and Tom Petty guesting on backing vocals. If you don’t know it, look it up on your favorite service and scratch your head how this isn’t played on the radio every beach weekend.

An Altered Images flexidisk that I haven’t listened to yet I can only hope that “Happy New Year” is sung to the tune of their song, “Happy Birthday.”
