ruvaania certainly isn’t large, by any means, nor rich with minerals, nor considered anything less than unforgiving, yet that is why his parents have survived SO LONG without choosing any particular side -- at least not publicly. illya remains skeptical, for his part, although he knows they’re hardly willing to listen when he tells them that silence is hardly a good disguise, that eventually the empire is bound to catch wind of their secret meetings with notable members of the rebel alliance.
not that he OBJECTS to these meetings in the first place. as a matter of fact, he supports them wholeheartedly in his strange and stoic way, but he knows their secrets may get them all killed someday, and naturally, he’s inclined to AVOID that potential inevitability.
if they’re expecting a visit, or even a fly-through, from one of their rebel friends, nobody’s told him about it, which rather explains his surprise at the appearance of poe dameron in their courtyard. they’re not CLOSELY acquainted, particularly, and illya would never openly profess curiosity about the pilot. ( although he catches himself wishing that the hems of his long coat weren’t dirtied from his time at the stables this morning, and quickly, he forces his thoughts elsewhere. )
❛ commander dameron, ❜ the prince keeps his voice as even as he can, even tries to make it LIGHT, although most would not characterize it that way. drawing a few steps closer, he gives a dip of his head, the closest he gets to any sort of bow of respect. ( he may not ENJOY the realities of being born nobility, but he certainly doesn’t think himself LESS for it. ) ❛ do you plan to make a HABIT of showing up unannounced, or did you manage to hail the king and queen a full hour before your landing? ❜ a joke, though possibly not one particularly well conceived.
@flightlegacy wants prince illya !!
