Tweedsmuir Air is based at Stewart's Lodge on Nimpo Lake, British Columbia, Canada. Their float planes offer flightseeing tours over the glaciers of the Coast Mountains and fly-in fishing in the numerous lakes and streams.
chopper over maui - easily one of my favorite experiences on the island is flying high above it and taking in the sights - if i remember correctly only about 10% of the island is accessible via car. shoutout to my friends at maverick helicopters for the flight
Anchorage, ALASKA!
Two flights, 9 hours of travel in the sky, and three movies later, we had traveled from Newark, NJ to Seattle, WA, all the way across the country and arrived in the 49th state - Alaska!
The view from the Westmark Hotel in Anchorage! We all had our own private balconies :)
First we had to tech the show for a week, and for a swing, that involves sitting at our own table in the house, up on the apron of the stage, or in the wings and tracking like crazy, while everyone else is up on stage getting used to costumes, staging, lights, and everything that comes with teching a show. I got to see my wigs, which look beautiful, and got to see all my costumes together which is super exciting!! Our dressing room is big and bright, and we all have our own slippers and robes. :) The set, lights, and props are SO beautiful - I’m in love with the asthetic of this show! I wish I could post pictures of the set, but due to company rules, the only way you can see the beauty is to come and see us in person ;)
On another note, the food in Alaska is amazing!! There are lots of cute coffee shops, including my favorite, Dark Horse Coffee, thanks to their Acaii bowls, epic quiches, smoothies, scones, and more,
friendly breakfast cafés, like Snow City Café, home to the BEST sticky buns, and fancy dinner palces like Orso, with really good seafood. For those who don’t know, I’m a proud vegetarian, but I’m allowing myself to have the salmon here, because when is the next time I’ll get to have wild Alaskan salmon?? While I was here, I nommed on some salmon chowder, smoked salmon croissants, and a salmon fillet, and I didn’t regret my cheating!! :)
Alaska was really excited to have us. The theatre planned fun activities for families, like a Cinderella activity sheet on their website and carriage rides before the show. The mall had big advertising stickers on the floor, and there was a huge poster outside the theatre!!
Speaking of huge, on our one day off, we got to see some HUGE mountains and glaciers, courtesy of an aviation tour on a tiny plane. These pictures hardly do the views any justince, so you’ll have to take my word for it - STUNNING.
Here’s our little plane that could fit up to 6 people
Apparently glaciers are naturally this gorgeous blue color?? Who knew!
It felt like we were on the planet Hoth from Star Wars
Those are little mountain sheep - so cute!!
And if seeing Alaska’s natural beauty wasn’t enough, I decided I wasn’t leaving until I had met some fuzzy friends, so me and a few others went to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center!
I finally met a moose!!!
Amoung the other things Alaska delighted me with: crazy ice cream from Wild Scoops, that came in the wildest (heehee) flavors, like cardamom cookie dough or garlic, days so cold, I could freeze my smoothie materials on our balcony, little girls dressed in poofy Cinderella dresses, charming little shops like The Kobuk that sold handmade trinkets, teas, doughnuts, and more, and just the happiness and spirit from the people of Anchorage - for Alaska being so cold, my heart was very warm :)
