All The Pretty Things | Working with a Detail Photographer
All the pretty things. And I mean all...the...pretty...things.
During wedding planning, everything feels monumentally important. The exact shade of the linens. The size of the roses. Whether they are opened, or closed. Which chair will people sit on? How many candles will go on each table? There are literally over tens, hundreds, and - depending on the size and scope of your wedding - possibly thousands of individual items and decisions that will be made for the day of your wedding.
On the day of your wedding, the focus is on the you; the couple. As it should be! And yet in the midst of the day, while we document the moments of hair and make up, the children scampering around, the individual photos, couple portraits, bridal party shots, and family photos where are all the pretty things?
Recently I decided to bring on a wedding photographer to capture all of the details of a wedding I was shooting. Not because I didn't trust the photographer that my couple had hired....Quite on the contrary! Shandro Photo out of Canada does spectacular work! But I wanted someone to focus on my work, and my design.
As you know, I always take my own photos at a wedding because I want to see the day through my own eyes. But I am not a professional photographer, and so this time I asked my dear and highly skilled friend, Adam Frazier, if he would spend a few hours taking detail photos of Joti and Field's wedding at the Four Seasons Las Vegas.
With a whimsical design created to carry guests into another world, our ceremony featured towering birdcages surrounded in hand cut ribbons; chandeliers, and a floral drop. We mixed wooden tables with large, plush pyramids topped in flowers. Servers passed molecular cocktails hand crafted from The Grand Bevy.
At the reception, we introduced bold colors, golden flatware, and white chairs rimmed in metallics. There was a mirrored bridge, and the crowning glory that I had been envisioning for years...a floating cake.
Haley and the team from Shandro will be delivering photos that document the couple and the day in the next few weeks. Until then, take a look at all of the beautiful elements that came together to make the day so stunning and special.
Having a dedicated detail photographer was incredible. Have you considered bringing one on to your wedding? I guarantee you that you won't be disappointed....WIth one team to document the relationships and one to document the details, you simply cannot go wrong.
There is no better way to make sure that you don't miss a thing...
Always...
