NGC 2841

This flocculent spiral galaxy is 46 million light years from us in the constellation of Ursa Major. The term “Flocculent” is in relation to the fluffy pattern that makes up the spiral pattern, rather than the well defined arms we see in what we call “Grand Design” spiral galaxies.

Eyesight is key

A man is walking along a semi-busy sidewalk. Ahead of him he sees a small flocculent cloud floating directly above a group of dark skinned people. "How is this even possible," he wondered?

As the man passes by the group he sees it's just a bunch of dudes wearing sheep on their heads. One of them baa's loudly in his ear. "How stupid was I to think it was a cloud. I really need to stop forgetting my glasses." A woman walking next to the man looks at him funny as he says this out loud.

A different sort of Finished Object! Natalie from Belgium bought this Flocculent to make little caps for the bears she sells at Bear Pile. These are gone, they’ve sold, but you can find hers by looking for her name. Here’s a link, too, but I’m not sure how long it will be good for. They’re really popular! 

And of course, Flocculent is ridiculously soft and delicious yarn. And Lucky Charms in any variety is so happy. But particularly when it’s the “Exuberant” variation! There are two in the shop now... and yes, the skein pictured is the actual skein used for those bear caps!

I know, you’re saying, ‘Hey, cool! They’re expanding into ornamental trees!’ And as close as you think you might be, you’re not. We're not actually planning to expand into trees, shrubbery or other garden-store wares. But, we will continue to take our cues from nature and springtime (if it ever comes - Hellllllloooooow out there, is there a NEW season out there, sneaking up on us, maybe? Fine. Nevermind. Bite me, Weather.)

As I started to say, we'll continue to take our colorway cues from my wacky brain and mother nature where our wool is concerned. That’s right ...our wool that we need to stay warm in this tundra we call April! ‘

But back to the yarn above - should any of you want to buy it, you’ll have to get it freshly made. I’m using this one for myself. But you can complain by writing to me through this website or this one. :-)
