Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

i'll say the moth diaries by rachel klein. i read it after watching the movie, which is pretty mid (but in some ways understandably so because the book is somewhat structured around vignettes) so i had mild expectations, but it's a real solid entry in the realm of lesbian vampire fiction

yeah a couple. some were just kinda tough nonfic i'll get back to (like eros the bittersweet), but i gave up on sundered moon (fae rynn) for its extremely dull prose, and probably will consider the wicked and the willing (lianyu tan) a dnf too, because the story just started to feel like nothing and rather repetitive and i didn't really engage with the romance/s too much.
