Before & After: What a Water-Damaged Kitchen Really Looks Like
Hey y’all
If you’ve ever dealt with a flooded kitchen (or you’re staring at one right now), you know it’s way more stressful than those pretty reno pics make it look. Here’s a real one from a Knoxville home we helped with last month.
Before (the nightmare phase):
Everything smelled like a wet basement. The water sat for almost 48 hours before they called for help. You could literally see the cabinets pulling away from the wall.
After (we got our lives back):
Same kitchen. Just 3.5 weeks later.
The key? Acting fast and drying things out the right way instead of just pointing fans at it and hoping for the best.
If you’re going through this right now, I put together a quick guide: → Quick guide: drying out a flooded room the right way
Some things I learned from this project:
Water + particle board cabinets = total loss (RIP)
Hardwood can sometimes be saved if you pull it up and dry both sides immediately
That “just run some fans” advice you see online? Only works for very minor spills
Always check behind the appliances and under the sink — water travels sneaky
Has water damage ever wrecked your kitchen or bathroom? Drop your horror stories below (or tell me you’re dealing with it right now). I’m happy to point you toward local resources in the Knoxville area.
Stay dry out there, East Tennessee
