tw: mentions of trauma, bullying, and struggles
As the holidays are around the corner, and 2025 is coming to a close, there can be lots of big feelings n worries n there's nothing wrong with that! I'm here to tell you . . .
It's okay if the holidays aren't what you want them to be. I'm sorry if you're feeling lonely or like you have to hide who you are around family. I don't know you, but I wish you could have the celebrations the way you want.
You're never too much for the right person. Those who matter, don't mind. And those who mind, don't matter. I know it can feel scary, embarrassing, even cringey to speak up about your wants and needs, but there's nothing wrong with doing so. You wanna know a secret? I feel the same, but I do so anyways, because the only way to never get those wants or needs is forever hold your silence.
Every year is progress towards your goals, even if it's just a little. I know it's frustrating and disappointing at times, but every step counts, even if it's just another day survived. Because one day, it will get better. Better than you ever ever ever imagined it could. So good that one day, the hurt won't be as heavy and will fade into the background.
You can be scared and unsure about 2026. Heck, none of us have been in this exact moment, so we don't have to pretend we know about everything.
You don't need to feel bad about regressing. If it's a coping mechanism that helps. Who are they to tell you to exhaustedly swim without your floaty while they sit on a boat? No one else knows how deep the water you stand in is, so of course it's hard for them to understand. Feel angry and hurt all you want, they're valid feelings to invalidation, but never stop doing something harmless just because of what other people say.
Someone having a deeper/different struggle doesn't invalidate yours. Life is hard, for everyone, and there is enough space for all of us to take up. Some of you kiddos work, others go to big kid school, maybe some mental health struggles, or chronic illnesses that make every task harder, whatever it is, your struggle is valid. Everyone's best looks different because we're all unique sillies with our own lives, and there is always value to be found in them.
Your age does not determine how you have to act. Are we serious? You? Acting like an adult 24/7? Whaaaa? Don't you know all the fun stuffs have an age minimum? Yeah and we're all older than 1 (oops maybe not all of us- shoutout to the infant-baby regressors!) so we can do them forever and ever! Okay I'ma serious up now: your chrono age isn't up to you, but your mental age/headspace can be whatever you want it to be. Growing physically older can be hard, so remember that there's always ways to nurture your little self n inner child! I go to big kid school, but I dress in pastels, wear hair clips, have a pink bedroom w stuffies n kids toys, still talk to my stuffies, watch cartoons, and love kids music!
Every single one of you matters. Again, I don't know you, but I wish for everyone to get their happy endings one day because that's what you all deserve. For some of you, there's people in your lives that really love, value, and appreciate you, whether they're family, friend, or something else. For others, maybe you don't have someone like that, and I'm sorry about that, but it's okay. (I didn't for a really long time either!) But you still matter to someone. "Wha Floofs? Has she lost her mi-" stop right there! Keep going for all the people you haven't met yet, for all the animals you haven't befriended, and for so much more. They care, and they can't wait to meet you. Wanna know another secret? Whenever I get super super sads and lonely, I think about my future mommy, and how she misses me too, so I gotta keep going. I can hear it already- "but why would anyone want m-" because you matter silly! And the same personality traits/behaviors that others are big meanies about, there are just as many people who love that about you.
- Signing off, Floofs
