Vintage Caravan update post!
Earlier this summer, we bought a tiny caravan, both for holidays and to live in while we get our floors rejoisted. She's a 1977 Cadet 10, and I love her already. The sellers said somebody wanted to turn her into a coffee van, and I'm so glad to be able to keep her going for her original intent.
So far, I've painted the interior bright white (covering the previous blue and magnolia) and given the cabinets and seat bases three coats of eucalyptus green cupboard paint.
In an ideal world, I'd do another coat of white on the walls; but painting was hurting so much that I'm calling it "good enough" for now.
The "kitchen" counter has been recovered in wood-effect vinyl, which was easier than expected and is holding up well so far. And it's backed with vinyl tiles from the pound shop, because I am not made of money (sorry, beautiful matte tiles we saw online. Sob.) and because it helps keeps the overall weight down.
And all the air vent covers have been replaced. That's a bit boring but they were old and discoloured, and the "kitchen" one had somehow partially melted?! It made a massive difference.
Next on the list:
- Some kind of handle on the drop-down door below the counter (mainly to hang a tea towel on, as storage is at a premium.)
- Recover all the pink seat cushions (I found a lovely neutral fabric for this)
- Make new curtains (reusing the current thermal blackout lining, because that stuff is pricy)
- Redo the flooring
- PAINT THE EXTERIOR AN ADORABLE COLOUR!
