Along with a new mimic idea I have been rolling around in my brain, I also have been thinking about a new slime design…

Giving the design a kind of sluggy appearence and making the internal body look kind of like one of those pretty flowering teas!

Here is a doodle for concept =33

I think they are pretty cute!

Waking up and realizing that handsome guy or gal or they'm you were dating is some huge eldrichy demon thing now.

You find them sitting at a table with a coffee cup in hand, looking like an adult sitting on a kiddy chair.

"Oh. OH Shoot! I this isn't what it looks like! I can explain!"

You raise one finger slowly up and point at them. "You... got taller. "

"... ... ... That's,"

"Why are you so tall? I don't remember you being this tall? Did you have a growth spurt in the middle of the night ir something?"

They gesture at themselves, "You don't...? The multiple eyes?? The horns??? You got nothing to say about that? No commentary about any o t h e r distinguishing features????"

You look down, and your eyes slowly scan back up. "I mean. You're really tall now. How did you do that?"

They face palm.

"Seriously though, what's your secret??"

Being part of a dragon's horde, but instead of being one of the many shiny things they have collected, you are THE crème da la crème of the collection. You are their pearl, their most prestigeous piece. As any themed collector knows, that is the one that themes the rest of the collection. So everything is soft, squishy and aesthetically colored to match.

So you have to march over a landscape of big pillow fortes and blanket mountains just to reach your slumbering keeper.

They would change their scales to match your preferred clothing style if only they could but surrounding themselves in color and aesthetics is good enough for now.

You catch glimpses of, a humanoid form when they need to slink around inconspiciously through town. Well... they think they look inconspicious. To you, someone covered head to toe in clothe with a big brimed hat screams trouble... but you never had the heart to tell them how sketchy they look behind those black circular glasses. They are self concious as hell when they aren't a big contented louging beast.

... Congrats! You are now a dragons little mascot character :3c

Your hands are clentched into the hem of your shirt, eyes averted, downcast. Finally speaking a truth that had wrapped thorny fingers tightly around your heart. "I'm sorry my love, but I don't want children."

A clawed thumb hooks oh so gently underneathe your chin. As you face is tilted up, You brace yourself to see disappointment. But no, only love is reflected in the glassy depths of their eyes.

"Oh sweetness, I think that's perfectly lovely," They coo with a playful smile, tilting your head just enough to nuzzle your cheek and neck. "This means I get to have you all to myself ♡"

Do you ever feel like some of the characters in your work are just pieces of your own heart and soul that grew sentience?

Wishes, hopes, truamas and dreams that are tied with silver ribbon to your ribs. Inseperable aspects that have become their own persons, intangliable yet so real.

You weep over their stories because pieces of it match your own struggles, and now this manufactured phantom ally struggles together with you through life. It makes you feel seen, and yet also more alone than ever before.

For as much as you wish to hold them in tender reguard, you cannot.

Okay but what if, there was a sentient being made up of a cloud of mold spores and they were your special person, but you'd have to wear a hazmat suit because holding hands might kill you instantaneously.

Do you think monsters would have fanfiction of humans the way we have fanfiction for monsters? Lol

Another thing: imagine that everytime you kiss a monster with wings, their wings do small excited flaps.

I have seen some other creators think about this too! Personally I hope so, and I also hope it's really funny, like people falling in love in the frozen food aisle at a grocery store! Like we write about the things we think is the usual for monsters viewed through a romantic lens Man I hope it's like the same, taking a look at normal human-isms it would be so good, so wholesome, so funny. Like chatting at a bus stop, or falling head over heels for the new co-worker, or "Heeeeey it's me you're friendly multi-tentacled plumber here to fix your pipes! : D" Ahahahaaa!!! Or for aliens, Oh noooooo Mx. Scientist don't use that on meee <3<3<3 Just outrageously wrong, and getting into debate fights with the other creatures about the plausibility of x scenario. XD "I don't think humans get that weird on a full moon, I think you're just projecting man." Oh jeeze, the poor creatures who are friends with humans just sit there and sweat like. "I... this is so glaringly wrong but it's fiction... I'm just going to let my roomie write their fan fiction in peace... I may tell Tony about the human head cannons though, he's going to laugh until he cries." Or humans are like mythical cryptids in that world like this one? Who knows! Speculation is fun. : 3

I really love when the folks who love creatures and lore stumble upon monster lovers and nerd out about their now extremely useful knowledge... but do you know what would be really funny?

Someone who is super naive... with timing so good it's comical. The human barely missing seeing their lover do odd things or looking very unhuman. The monster partner would be constantly sweating. "They have to know? They must know by now! I have given so many things away! I totally, messed up last week... Oh stars what if they hate me? Worse... what if they're scared of me? Too scared to say anything. Could I live with myself knowing they thought of me like that? Could I? What if they tell someone! What if they leave?"

The mental anxiety ends up being just too much, and the the monster partner decides to have that talk and rip the bandaid off before anything worse can happen. Then...

Then they are all but baffled at the responce. "Haha, whaaat? No, nuh uh, come'on I know I'm gullible but I'm not that gullible." They laugh and playfully shove their partner. "Don't be such a jerk! Is it April first already? Boy... you really thought that'd get me? You're going to have to do way better than that, pal."

The being who felt like they were doing an awefully poor job at disguising themselves lays in bed with their partner curled up against their chest. They stare at the ceiling, trying to understand just what happened.
