It was a mistake to divulge that he had planned to take a trip as soon as the battle against the Song of Destruction ended. His bags were already packed and not a day has passed yet since the Scions announced their disbandment. The thought of getting used to being alone again brought him feelings of turmoil and to deal with its claws, he sought to leave before anyone else, and of course she had caught him just about to leave. She wasn’t going to let him go.

He could at least eat first. Mayhaps think about this sudden decision. He didn’t even know where he would go, planning to only follow where his feet might take him. She’s right. He does need a break before willingly shoving himself in danger’s way. What he didn’t expect was to be doted with a serving of his favorite Braised Pipira, paired with a fresh hot cup of Chamomile Tea. The uneasiness made him eat less lately and he didn’t think he’d have the appetite for it. Anyroad, he gladly partook in the meal, grateful for her attentiveness.

“Thank you,” he replied, smiling subtly at her. “...and sorry.”

There is no subtlety in how her eyes widen, mouth slightly agape in shock that lasts a second too long, more obvious than she would have liked. The truth is Anqoora achieves the rare feat of, if momentarily, leaving Alisaie without a reply.

What do you even say when someone you admire deeply expresses something like that?

The champion of Eorzea, Warrior of Light -- only a pair amidst an extensive list of titles, all earned in a journey filled with hardship. To her, more than just a hero, although a hero nonetheless; a friend and an inspiration, always, a rival if only in the form of someone she aspired to one day measure up to.

Alisaie knows she does not; she knows it takes no small amount of bravery to stand up against the foes the au ra has faced. As surprise abates, the young elezen cannot help but feel proud she would be seen as a source of such bravery, despite doubting the other woman needed it. 

Eyes shining bright, she looks up to Anqoora with a smile. Spoken words are not her friend’s way, and though Alisaie could never spend a lifetime without speaking, she thinks she understands somewhat by now; not that all words are lies, but that there is tremendous value in knowing another through more than them. Still, she hopes to be forgiven for expressing herself through words voiced, genuine response that it is.

“ You would not need me to be brave -- I know that, do not deny it. ” Matter-of-factly as words of denial may be, concealed within is pride immeasurable. “ As I know I am still lacking in comparison to the Warrior of Light. ”

“ Yet if I can inspire even a fraction of what you are capable of... I will always strive to do even more. I know you do not need me -- but I am here for you just the same. And if I can help with the burdens you carry, you shall never have to carry them alone. ” And one day, I will be capable of bearing their weight in full so you do not have to. A promise, to them both.

curious  ,  they  were  ,  &  eyebrow  rises.  absent  of  its  usual  sharpness  ,  &  expression  replaced  with  an  echo  of  once  before.  lips  part  —  hand  lifts  &  fingers  delicately  trace  the  petals  of  the  flower.  air  drawn  in  (  subtle  /  sudden  )  as  eyes  wander  to  the  plants  gathered  ‘round  their  feet.  a  vibrant  ,  beautiful  purple  whose  color  was  brought  out  by  the  moon’s  light  hitting  the  lake  on  both  their  right  sides.  corners  of  mouth  curl  upward  —  a  faint  ,  sad  smile.

pain blooms in her shoulder until … it whittles away.  bit by bit. not immediately at first, for healing magic is not an immediate boon as others might think it is. seeping behind skin, the flux and flow catching on nicks and knots, replacing broken flesh with mended flesh. she knew this, knew the touch of tingling hands resting on her scars as their aether fluctuates and ripples, coursing like long winding rivers. for all that healing magic gives, it cannot soothe over the panic, the rise of tension her body. crackling. shattering. surprise takes her in a second; the shock bouncing back and forth off walls, off bones. that disturbance — the fear, that cannot be taken away so easily. 

she caught herself, fingers clenching around rimmed metal, knees bent and muscles still recoiling from a vicious impact. their assailant is blasted back, torn apart by bright lights, shafts of white, and stark cold shapes. umiko forgets how cruel such kind magics can be. 

❝  i did not hear them. ❞   she whispers between a small wheeze, her upper body clenching at the phantom pain which riddles her insides. there is no immediate threat to her, or her lungs and veins, but there could have been. it’s all gone now. dead. 

the magic returns; another hand resting upon stone and wood, laying down faint colours. green then blue then a waxy white. the weary auri woman allows herself to take a small comfort in that at least, her hands now receding from the handles of her weapons. she breathes again, a sharp one this time, she does not bother to count how many seconds may have passed between them. slowly, she raises her head, her expression softening.  ❝  but i am glad you did.  ❞

the umbrella academy sentence starters.  |  @floralived​​:  ‘ i stayed because ishgard needed me . ’ ( @ aymeric ! )

    A GENTLE SMILE  adorns his lips, as it often does in the company of his dear friend and ally. many had played a part in the reformation of ishgard, but the warrior of light had gone above  &  beyond the call for arms;  had fought for ishgard and its people with such fervour and might that the lord commander himself found himself lacking. all the same, it had inspired him. many more than just himself.

    had it not been for his scaled friend, aymeric dreads to think what would have become of not only ishgard, but dragon-kind. such thoughts cause his expression to shift to one of subdued concern, gaze falling slightly.  ‘ how deplorable ...  to be distracted with such drab thoughts in the face of such a great warrior. the war is over ! ’  he reminds himself, eyes meeting anqoora’s and softening with palpable relief.

    “ forgive me for getting lost in thought, my friend. much has transpired since we last spoke, hasn’t it ? ”  fingers graze the hilt of the sword tucked away at his hip, and this time his gaze turns from her purposefully to look over ishgard.  (  from here, one can see house fortemps. ‘ many had played a part ’. not at all in vain.  )  “ i cannot put into words how grateful i  —  no ...  we:  ishgard in its entirety, are, to you. ”

initial thoughts for anqoora & theldra: similar in some regards while acting as a foil to each other. could potentially develop a strong bond where they’re good at reading each other and rarely ever need to express anything  i think they'd have a super solid dynamic!!

1) initially bond over magic & knowledge before becoming actual dare i say friends. lend each other books and study and practice together.

2)  theldra, although not much for people, seeks anqoora out and makes some effort to begin to get to know her once anqoora's role is established as warrior of light. it's not out of kindness or malice, but curiosity. i think, at times, theldra probably fails to acknowledge that anqoora is no better or worse than anyone else. she doesn't hold her on a pedestal, but she seems to just forget that anqoora has. you know. feelings. and weakness.

3) tying into the second bullet, theldra having an awkward moment of trying to establish how she's suppose to communicate with anqoora in a way that's convenient for them both.

4) ask theldra for help reaching things in high places.
