Flor Carioca / France
Flor Carioca samba school was created in 2011 by 3 friends passionate by Carioca Samba, Yoann Lusseau, Simon Tessier and Céline Gascoin. Flor Carioca is part of the Sports and Cultural Association of Bonne Garde, based in the area of Pirmil in Nantes. The group would't have been able to grow as quickly as it has without this major association which has bring, not only a strong human and logistical support, but has also enable the development of new projects that came true. The goal of the group, since the beginning is to get inspired by the musical heritage of Rio and promote its culture in Nantes and all over France, in an associative and amateur environment. They try to tend towards more authenticity in terms of percussions while developing our own rhythmic and harmonic creations in a faithful style to samba of Rio. The group is make up of about sixty rythmists, all amateur without a specific prior level who have learned the basics thanks to our weekly practices. Flor Carioca perform in Nantes but also out of the region for different types of event like musical, voluntary, sports and cultural shows.
