TED LASSO — S02E03 | Do the Right-est Thing
Thinking of all the parallels between Sassy and Trent, in relation to Ted. And also the contrast between them. Sassy just tolerates Ted's sense of humor, while Trent actually enjoys it. Sassy doesn't wanna go out with Ted because he's a mess. But Trent went to dinner with him even though he had a low opinion of him in that moment.
Ted spells out what he wants out of a romantic relationship. And Sassy can't fulfill his emotional needs, but Trent can, and he did throughout the series. Trent gets Ted in a way no one else does.
These scenes... I think they says a lot. The way Ted watches Sassy leave compared to the way he watches Trent leave. "You don't need a line, you don't need words, it's all moments, actually".
And now let's talk about:
Sassy compares their relationship to the movie "Friends With Benefits", but she was actually talking about "No strings attached".
I think that's really interesting in retrospect considering that later in the season, we have an episode called "The Strings That Bind Us".
So if Ted and Sassy have "no strings attached", who is Ted's red string actually connected to?
What if Sassy, finishing up an advanced degree while Rebecca bartended to stay away from her father's money, warned Rebecca about the guy at the bar that came in every night... What if Sassy saw Rebecca heading toward Rupert and tried to wave her off?
When Sassy tells Rebecca in "Make Rebecca Great Again" that she climbed every step of those stairs herself... What if that's a reminder to Rebecca she was waved off and ignored her advice?
What if Sassy saw the trauma Rebecca had in her life from her father and chose psychology so she could help other kids who might be in similarly awful situations?
I just want Sassy to wear red to Rupert's funeral.

“I think I might have a story for you.”
“Oh really?”
“Two conditions.” Rupert spoke sharply “One; this never, ever came from me. Two; do as much damage as you can.”
