WIP Tuesday
I was tagged by @worldsmostcasualmpregfan to post a wip so here's another little bit of the career fic finale that I literally penned 5 minutes ago... happy Ted Lasso Tuesday everybody :)
Roy didn’t like to leave him on his own. He knew it was overbearing, exactly the sort of thing that had gotten him in trouble way back when with Keeley, that he’d worked hard over the years to tone down when needed, to make work for all of them. He’d talked about in therapy. Extensively. ...So all that hard work flew right out the window whenever he looked at Jamie, yapping away rapidly to whoever the fuck on his phone, his ankle propped up on one of Keeley’s floofy pink pillows…what the fuck ever. Jamie had once told him he loved every bit of him—even the annoying ones. So there. Roy found himself filling up Jamie’s water bottle again right before it ran dry, sliding it onto whatever surface nearest to where his partner was sitting. He pinned the physical therapy schedule up on their fridge beneath an air dry clay magnet of a football that Phoebe had gifted them when she was twelve, circling the important parts, scribbling in changes where they were needed. He woke up early enough to fix them all breakfast. For Keeley coffee, for Jamie tea. Milk and sugar in both. More for Keeley, slightly less for J. He set the tea beside a glass of water, and lined up a row of morning pills above the plate of eggs.
roy kent comes back to me this week after 3+ years
At the end of Sunflowers when they’re singing “three little birds” on the bus and Jamie is singing at Roy and you can see him going “don’t worry about a thing, Roy” 😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ok I really like Roy, he’s one of my favorite characters but I just hope they don’t just put him in a box and he turns into a one dimensional, head empty, growling nob. I feel characters like him it’s easy to get lost in his writing if you lose sight of his motivation.
Like based on what we know abt him so far he grew up poor and moved to Richmond when he was 9. He was one of the greatest mid fielders in the Premier League but now he is old and washed. His game thrives off anger and that dog in him but rn it’s not working. He’s a caring leader that keeps everything bottled up until he explodes.
I think keeping Jamie as an example and point of reference for who Roy used to be is very good but now with this entire Keeley thing it’s going to get messy. I first thought that Roy would never get with Keeley for this exact reason, like he would never get with someone Jamie’s had already been with but I guess I was wrong.
The concept of Ted acquiring a photo of Roy from Uncle’s Day and then turning it into a digital sticker oh okay
I’m going to become a roykeeley positivity blog actually. I love their first scene together where he’s like “im roy kent i cannot be manipulated” and shes like “i could push all your buttons if i wanted to” and then she does and she says “is that making you mad 🤭” very sexy. Also when she calls him a fucking knobhead in the Christmas episode.
