Masters of Coin

Of the known masters of coin, at least two had the position only in name-their wives were the actual masters of coin.

Florence Fossoway

Florence was born to house Fossoway and married Martyn Tyrell. Her husband was made Master of Coin by king Jaehaerys I, although the duties were performed by Florence.

Elaena Targaryen

Elaena Targaryen, a daughter of Aegon III and Daenaera Velaryon, married Ronnel Penrose, who was then made Master of Coin. However, it was known that she was the one performing all the necessary duties.

HOUSE OF LADIES DAY 5  - HOUSE TYRELL

For day 5, I decided to pay tribute to Florence Tyrell, born Fossoway. She was the wife of Martyn Tyrell, Lord of Highgarden. After her marriage, she took charge of the accounts of Highgarden and increased the incomes of House Tyrell by over a third.

For Lady Florence of House Fossoway Of Cider Hall - Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2019

Lady Florence Fossoway was a noblewoman of House Fossoway during the reign ofJaehaerys I Targaryen.  She married young Martyn Tyrell, heir to Highgarden. Lady Florence was able and intelligent and took charge of the accounts of House Tyrell and increased the incomes of the house by over a third. When a new master of coin was needed by Jaehaerys I Targaryen, his Hand of the King, Septon Barth put forward Lord Martyn Tyrell's name, but in truth he desired the Lady Florence, who would be brought to court with her husband to perform the duties of the office. Although her husband officially sat on the small council and was given the title master of coin, it was in fact Lady Florence who was in charge of the treasury.
