FINALLY! I post a wrap up instagram post to ACTUALLY fill you in on the beauty and fun and insightfulness that HAPPENED! @lacountylibrary #FlorencePublicLibrary hosted by #KimberlyCobian and with @ridingthebus1 and I as two other featured poets all focused on the topic of food as it relates to immigration was fun and beautiful...so many stories in Spanish and English, first time in a long time I shared more personal stories about my family and ancestry including racism within different cultures and more. #Platanos and our love of them. And I happily shared a poem about my Mom that made Willie, the library worker at the bottom left/right cry lovely and I made a poem up for VICTOR who wants to race in Nascar when he grows up and loves the @fateofthefuriousmovie ...he cracked up when I mentioned @vindiesel in the poem and he said the poem made his DAY! Luis shared great advice when asked about poets that inspired him or that they should check out...he said, "Look at the person next to you...that is the person you should be listening to..." !!! Kim recommended @officialsandracisneros as an author to check out which makes sense since her poetry felt like we were sitting out on Mango street with her detailed and reflectively impactful storytelling.
