So, after Cruz won the Florida 500, what did Jackson, the other next gens, and possible crew chiefs (besides Lightning) think?

Jackson - *one long internal scream*

The Boys™️ - as we see in the movie, they’re all impressed and see a friendly new rivalry in her, they like what they see

Strip - perhaps all is not lost for team Dinoco after all

Racing Jacket

A brief humanized Cars 3 headcanon...

After the Florida 500, Lightning let Cruz keep his red racing jacket as a token of gratitude and as a reminder of her getting a chance to take that first shot. When she receives her trophy, Lightning just walks up to Cruz and puts the jacket on her. Of course she freaks out and screams for five minutes straight. Cruz still has that jacket and it has become one of her most prized possessions. She hung it up in a special glass case in her house (she placed it in a spot on the wall so that her visitors can see the display of the jacket in all its splendor).

Before every race, she opens the case and touches the sleeves as a sign of good luck. If she wins that race, she goes home and wears the jacket for the rest of the night (as a celebration for her victory). She even has it dry cleaned monthly to keep it fresh and to keep the vibrant red color from fading. She is the only one allowed to touch the jacket. She would definitely freak out if she sees another person's hands on it. When she first got the case for the jacket, she invited Lightning over just so they could take a picture in front of it. She also has that picture framed and placed on the wall next to the glass case. Of course Lightning thinks it's a little too much, but he doesn't mind (as long as Cruz has something to remind herself that she is an excellent racer).
