i mapped out every state that had a "-natural" tag and this is what i learned

methodology

i did the tumblr search for [state]natural and sorted by recent.

i counted by hand how many unique users posted in the tag. this is flawed because tumblr search index sucks ass and also people might have me blocked for whatever reason

if a state ended with "N" i did two searches, ex: michiganatural vs michigannatural.

for states with two-word names i searched by name as one word, second word if it wouldn't be confusing, and state abbreviation (ex: newyorknatural, jerseynatural, wvnatural)

(i would search "jerseynatural" to find new jersey, but i wouldn't search "mexiconatural" to find new mexico. "carolinanatural" would return results for both carolinas, etc.)

this search does not use pejorative tags (ex: i have used massholenatural before. maybe you guys should learn to drive tho.)

takeaways

mean including every state without a tag: 1.65. mean excluding 0: 4.42

mode is either 0 or 1

median is either 0 or 1

i havent taken stats since high school. here are some tiny box plots

there are no posters for kansasnatural, the state where sam and dean both live and are from

people from massachusetts are annoying

Peanut grass! One of the natural beneficial ground covers that blankets the earth with a bright layer of yellow flowers. (I’ve even heard the flowers are edible and peanut flavored.)
