Organic Juice Dude is a local cold press juicery. All the juices are organic. The physical storefront in Sierra Madre closed, but they now offer home delivery for $10. The juices were packed with ice. Delivery was contactless.

The 3-day signature cleanse was $166. You’ll get six juices a day and a morning ginger shot. I liked how the juices were in glass bottles, though I’m not sure what to do with so many glass bottles.

The morning ginger shot was my favorite. It’s super strong and zesty. It does feel energizing. I enjoyed all the juices but wished for greater variety (three beet drinks in a row is a bit much). Everything was fresh and light. It would have been amazing to have an almond milk and/or broth included in the mix vs. only juice.

Morning energizer: carrot, celery, parsley, cayenne – sweet, not too spicy

G1: kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, green apple – good greens flavor, not too sweet

A1: kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, carrot, green apple, beet – sweet, earthy, strong beet flavor

Celery: celery, cucumber - light

The juices are 12 oz each. I remember when juices were 16 oz each and then 15.2 oz.  I did get through the cleans and felt lighter afterwards, but I had little energy and multiple headaches. I’ve tried a few different juice cleanses. I’m not sure that I would do this one again because it’s 100% juice.

How to choose a juicer machine?

There are two main types of juicers. Masticating juicers (sometimes called cold press juicers) use a slow-turning auger to squeeze juice out of fruits and vegetables. Centrifugal juicers (or juice extractors) operate at a higher speed, pushing fruits and veggies through rapidly spinning blades.

Juicers differ from blenders in that they separate out the pulp and leftovers you don’t want using a filter (typically a mesh screen). A blender doesn’t really make “juice” since everything stays in the same container, though it can achieve a fine-enough consistency for a thicker drink such as a smoothie. You can, of course, strain blended material after the fact, using cheesecloth or a sieve, but that’s a lot more work.

The Pressed Juicery at Del Amo is one of their larger locations. In addition to the cold-pressed juices that they’re known for, they have shots, smoothies, smoothie bowls, Freeze (plant-based soft serve) and Frozen (plant-based, coconut based desserts sold in pint form). Juices are $6.95 and $5.50 for VIP members. The cold-pressed juices are not organic and they use plastic bottles. A juice is 15.2 oz.

I’ve had most of their juices and tried most of their products. I like most of the juices, especially Orange Turmeric, Turmeric Almond Milk, Greens 3, and Vanilla Freeze soft serve. I don’t like the ones with monkfruit though. The smoothies were too sweet for me.

Samples, discontinued during COVID-19, are back.

They used to offer samples so you could try most things before buying but they discontinued that because of COVID-19.

Members/VIPs get a discount off the listed prices. While its free to become a member, you do have to load the account every month with at least $10. There’s also a rewards program where you earn points for purchases.

Freeze is made with 100% fruit, vegetables and nuts – so it’s vegan, no sugar added, low cal, gluten free and dairy free. It has no additives or binders. You can top your Freeze with healthy, quality toppings: fresh fruit, coconut, granola, nuts, almond butter (the best), honey, pink salt, cacao drizzle, tajin, almonds, and crispy chocolate quinoa.

Vanilla Freeze: on the icy side but tastes less processed and the almond butter drizzle is the best, tastes like almond milk with a hint of vanilla, the texture is a bit gritty but thick

There are frequent promotions. I definitely recommend the membership if you like their juices and live in the area. You can save quite a bit of money.

Interesting how Pressed took over the old Pinkberry space back in 2016. I can still see traces of Pinkberry, like the vertical line design and the old Pinkberry chairs. It’s a small location with a few tables outside and a shared parking lot (if you find a space, you should feel lucky).

Pressed is known for cold-pressed juices. They also have pre-made bottled smoothies, almond milk, wellness shots, Pressed Freeze (non-dairy soft serve), and acai/smoothie bowls. Prices increased slightly recently. VIP members used to pay $5 per juice and now the new price is $5.50 for VIP members and $6.95 for non-members. That’s still cheaper than most juice places. While its free to become a member, you do have to load the account every month with at least $10.

Saffron badam: This is a new drink; it has agave, almonds, walnuts, sea salt, curry powder, turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cardamom, and saffron extract. It’s pretty sweet but saffron badam usually is on the sweet side. While there are a lot of ingredients, the spices are balanced – no spice is overwhelming. The saffron is probably the strongest flavor but the other spices complement it. I really liked it and though it was past the best by date, it tasted fine.

Vanilla Freeze with almond butter & granola: icy but I like how it isn’t as sweet and tastes clean/less processed. So good with almond butter – like almond milk in frozen form.

I bought a juice on 5/28 and I noticed the best by date is 5/22. I’m surprised – that’s never happened to me before. I should have checked while I was at the shop.

There are frequent promotions. I definitely recommend the membership if you like their juices and live in the area. You can save quite a bit of money. Also, sign up for the rewards/points program to earn free treats. Parking is difficult in the area.
