My Pool Deck is Trying to Kill Me (And Other Florida Problems)

This weekend, I finally got around to scrubbing my pool deck, and wow—what a nightmare. The old pavers are stained, slippery when wet, and somehow hotter than the actual sun. I nearly burned my feet just walking to the pool. That’s when I decided: This has to change.

A quick search for "cool pool deck materials Florida" led me to Coastal Paver Creations’ Travertine Pool Decks page. It’s here: https://coastalpavercreations.com/viera/.

Turns out, travertine stays cool underfoot (bless) and resists slipping (double bless). The photos of their Cocoa Beach projects sold me—light, textured stone that looks like a high-end resort, not my sad, sun-faded pavers. Now I’m debating between a classic beige or something with a subtle pattern.

It’s got me thinking about what’s possible this summer. Maybe I’ll finally stop avoiding my pool area and actually enjoy it.
