Here's what my plate looked like tonight: fresh steamed broccoli, mango quinoa (go to @publix and get yourself some, its frozen and so easy to prepare for din), and my favorite- tuna. Lemme tell you about this 🐟, we caught it earlier this season off of Oregon Inlet, NC, on the Tuna Fever (much love to the cap'n and skipper) and it was grilled in an Asian zing sauce. Seriously so easy to cook up and so rich in flavor, tuna is always a 10/10 for us, but this new flavor is to die for. Easy and light; a great summer meal👌🏼 #florida #floridaliving #livingfloridays #floridays #swfl #southwestflorida #floridablog #floridablogger #floridian #floridianlife #floridaresident #FL #southwestfl #dinner #dinnerideas #healthyeating #tuna #tunafever #quinoa #coloryourplate (at Cape Coral, Florida)
It's not leafy, green, nor pretty- but there's nothing better than comfort food🧀. Today I went out and ran some errands and tried to get my bearings a little more over in Fort Myers. Really hoping for some good weather this weekend to go explore and check out some palm trees at a nursery (lil baby trees🌴🌴🌴). This afternoon was a lil chilly, I'm actually wearing jeans today (I know, so unlike me👖). I also picked up some #halotopcreamery for dessert tonight because @publix is awesome (although the BBQ sauce debacle is still up for debate). Any suggestions for this weekend in SWFL? Hello SWFL! Take advantage of this afternoons sun. It's beautiful and bright, but not for long. Around 7pm we could hit a few storms here and there (with our track record, we should expect them by now). Tomorrow is looking to be beautiful so take advantage of it because they're anticipating rain all weekend (maybe invest in those bean boots I mentioned!). Looking to plant some little green friends along the front of our house, what's lush and colorful and does well in the sun? We don't want trees, something short to still allow sun in the front windows. Let me know what you think Floridians! See ya later, alligators! #florida #floridaliving #livingfloridays #floridays #swfl #southwestflorida #floridablog #floridablogger #floridian #floridianlife #floridaresident #FL #southwestfl #palmtrees #tropical #tropicalparadise #tropics #floridalocal #floridastyle #floridasun #floridaskies #floridagirl #floridalife #floridalove #floridasunrise #floridabound #floridasummer #capecoral #ilovepalmtrees #floridasunsets #sunset (at Cape Coral, Florida)
While the storm was working it's way up to Tampa, I was turning up the heat in our kitchen. Saturday we went back to the little farmers market and picked up more Royal Red Shrimp and a spaghetti squash (it was only $2!!!). So I made a light pasta using the spaghetti squash and shrimp for dinner tonight. Just a heads up, I don't really cook aside from boiling water or pressing buttons on the microwave (I am a pro at toast though). So I am extremely proud of myself and this lil somethin' somethin'. I'll find a link to the recipe and put it up on the blog tonight for all you guys out there interested in this savory summer dish. Hope everyone is staying (or at least attempting to be) dry, see ya later, alligators! Nothing like some afternoon storms in SWFL. Definitely recommend hanging inside until these storms pass, there's a lot of cloud to ground lightning action going on right now. Enjoy the delicate sound of thunder in the mean time! #florida #floridaliving #livingfloridays #floridays #swfl #southwestflorida #floridablog #floridablogger #floridian #floridianlife #floridaresident #FL #southwestfl #palmtrees #thunderstorms #thunderstruck #lightning #thunder #delicatesoundofthunder (at Cape Coral, Florida)
I said I'd bless the rains in SWFL should they come and low and behold it's been raining all night and all day so far! The grass is green and the trees aren't drooping. Today though, I wanted to talk about something; culture shock. I have some things that Floridians may get, but to me it's literally a foreign land down here. 1. Four way stops. Everywhere. On my commute to most places around Cape Coral, I only hit one or two traffic lights. 2. Thunder. Not to say we didn't have storms in VA, because we definitely had some nasty ones, but the thunder rolls here. Florida is flat and Cape Coral doesn't have high rises, so nothing breaks up the sound. 3. The Weather Channel. It says rain everyday for the next two weeks. Why? Because in Florida there is always the chance for an afternoon thunderstorm. 4. Hockey. Maybe it's because it's the Stanley Cup, but I have seen more jerseys and shirts than I ever did in VA and that includes D.C. (even though the caps suck😜). But the teams I see aren't the Penguins nor the Predators so... are y'all just really proud or does hockey (mind you, it's played on ICE) really that big in Florida? Go Lightning by the way⚡️ 5. Jeeps. Now, this is the reason for the picture. I drive a jeep, my mom drives a jeep, and we wave. How come Floridians do not jeep wave? Are there too many jeeps around here that y'all get carpal tunnel syndrome commuting to work? This is the biggest shock for me, personally, but I'll keep on ✌🏼 in hopes that the jeep community comes through. I mean after all, it's a jeep thing. So those are just a few things I've noticed in my two weeks here (holy cow I've been here two weeks now!) that are so different from back in VA. If you moved to Florida from somewhere else, what kind of culture shock have you experienced? Stay dry today, see you later, alligators. • • • • • #jeepwrangler #classicjeep #jeep #itsajeepthing #jeepwave #florida #floridaliving #livingfloridays #floridays #swfl #southwestflorida #floridablog #floridablogger #floridian #floridianlife #floridaresident #FL #southwestfl #capecoral (at Culture Shock)
