1954 Florsheim Shoes
1950
i have a fun little Shoe Mystery! as opposed to the regular textile mysteries! yes leather can be a textile but shoes are their own weird thing!
the goodwill on the way back from the farm with the silly name coughed up these florsheims, which do need to be resoled and were made WELL after the company's heyday/best period of craftsmanship, but! they were twelve dollars, they're a fun color, and they're the first florsheims ive ever encountered that actually fit me, bc while i have a large shoe size For A Lady i have trouble finding mens' boots small enough (had to special order my steel toed boots, for example).
i Cannot find any information about these boots' model number, 33299. the closest think i have found is the essex boot??? every other boot i have seen has a normal vamp and not this funky V on top of the vamp? the moc toe continues up into the v instead of stopping short on the essex, and has a somewhat more subdued moc toe. this hobbyist site suggests a manufacture date of May 1995, but i Cannot find a 90s catalog to flip through.
essex below for comparison. what are my boots??? what's their deal???
