The wellness industry, to an extent, has expanded on the “health” forefront; what that looks like for me, and what that looks like for you. But by doing so, has and is also playing a major part in misconstruing what that means. . We’re obsessed with elixirs but more often than not, forget the one we have on tap. We want more energy, efficiency, less brain fog, but what’s our relationship like with sleep? We want to eat well, but do we know our way around basic ingredients and what they do? . Health is a non-negotiable, but that doesn’t mean the price tags associated with many of these products are too. Your kitchen should be a reflection of YOUR body, and not the new and shiny products capitalizing on that body. . I love all my concoctions as much as the next person, but the staples in my pantry speak to the power of simplicity, seasonality, and longevity. Throughout the course of Lisa’s episode, the tellings of her childhood, the recipes, and general interdependence I felt when touching on family and how they draw from one another, it goes without saying that food is very much at the center of this. By way of her grandma, and now Lisa, a bone broth to feed your qi…and you know, to kick any other ailments you may be suffering👊 . 🐓1 whole chicken (certified organic, raised without antibiotics, no hormones, pasture-raised) 🥔1 medium yam 🥕2 large carrots 🍄4 large reishi mushrooms 🥄1 tbsp astragalus root powder ❤ 15-20 goji berries ❤ 5-10 jujube (red dates) ❤ 1/8 cup dried longan fruit ❤ 2-3 slices ginger ❤ 2 whole codonopsis root (poor man’s ginseng) . 1. Rinse all dry ingredients. Slice mushrooms, yam, and carrots. . 2. Place everything in pan/slow cooker of choice. Let boil for 15-20 mins, then adjust heat to let simmer on low for 2-3 hours. . All that’s left is to bask in your broth. .
