Flowering Pots - Great Tips for Keeping Them Beautiful
Want to know how to make perfect pots and want to buy pots. They actually do look like this, but I've had them for about a month. They do not look like yeah it's. Very common for it to buy planters or hanging baskets and after a couple weeks, they start to kind of go and decline, and there's, some easy steps.
We can do, though, that that will not happen to you again. Okay, alright, first thing we need to know is uh well, first, at the garden centers, they're feeding these planters pretty much every single time they water.
This is a liquid fertilizer. It's, a kelp based fertilizer, the organic ones are nice, they have lots of micronutrients the kelp and it just helps keep again keep pushing out more flour. So you can use a liquid one.
So a little dollop in your watering can just follow the instructions or when you're planting or if you've already planted or bought one, you can scratch a little granular fertilizer into the soil and then every time you water, you'll, be releasing fresh nutrients; okay and then you don't, really have to think about it, but once or twice during the season.
Now, what about when the flower is actually like these ones? We could actually die yeah. That's, an important step as well deadheading, and this is something you want to do to keep more flowers coming all season long.
So if we look at these petunias, you see there's, a few that are not looking quite so fresh, so we need to pop those out of there. I try and do this, but I've. Never, who me remember like where, okay so normally, I would just do it here - just pull the flower out well or like at the end.
Okay, I'm here, like I always think it's. Does that work that that works, but it's even better to take it all the way back to the earth where the flower stem meets the plant, and then you're gonna have fresh growth push out of there and give You new flowers, even quicker and same goes for something like this yeah.
This hibiscus is also this. One is a little past due now, so it's time to remove that guy, you want to do the honors yes, so this one, so you're, going right down to the stock right down the stalk, and then you're going to push out all this beautiful, fresh growth here.
So then you keep talking back so know. If you can see that you can actually see the little ones coming out yeah so that's, fresh new growth coming up yeah and there's, other things we can do as well to keep our containers looking great.
We fertilize we deadhead and we water properly hanging baskets are relatively small pots. They dry out quickly, especially in hot days. So if I'm going out for the day in the morning, I just kind of touched the bottom of my pot and if it feels really light, I water and you know sometimes I need to water again.
When I come home, bigger planters can hold a bit more water, but in an inground garden there's so much the larger reservoir of water. So things don't dry out as quickly in a pot. You know they don't have water, they can feed from.
So you have to give them plenty of water and make sure they've drainage holes, though so that the water can drain out the excess water great. You need to deadhead. You need to water properly and you need to add fertilizer, that's.
