Balor's gaze softened as he spun Hikari through their raised arms and tilted her, dipping her until the ends of her long hair grazed the ground beneath them.
He admired her at such an angle. Her face lit up with merriment, her giggles contagious; like music to his ears. The sun shined on her with an ethereal glow that made her golden eye sparkle like the rarest gemstone and her blue eye like the ocean catching the rays of the sun. Her hair like cornsilk, he could feel it brushing against his hand where it laid against her upper back. Even the attire she chose for the festival accented and accompanied her well, and try as he might, he couldn't take his eyes off of her.
His heart fluttered and his smile spread as he brought her up into a proper stance and brought her close.
He couldn't have found a better partner for the Fall season's Harvest Festival, and was ecstatic when she'd agreed to take him as a partner during the traditional dance. While he wasn't a local to Mistria, he had partaken in its festivities for a couple of years.
This was his first time dancing, however, and he was pleased to be Hikari's first, and hopefully, only partner during the season's dance.
He couldn't seem to help himself in the moment. Swept up by the music, the tempo, the closeness of their bodies flushed against one another, he began to lean in, lips searching for lips, his hand against her back like a beacon leading her towards him, and his other hand lacing with hers, their fingers intertwining.
So close was he to closing the distance, that he almost didn't notice the first raindrop. Or the second. however, the third managed to catch his attention when it hit his nose. He paused, raising his eyes towards the skies. Clouds rolled in fast with the threat of an oncoming storm, and before they had a chance to consider its effects, the storm hit them faster than they could prepare for.
They were soaked within seconds, their clothes sticking to their bodies like a second skin and their hair falling flat. Residents scattered for shelter, either running from their stalls or off the stage as they screeched and hollered from the shock, but Balor didn't move.
He watched the townsfolks flee and then looked at Hikari. Seeing her in such a state, he couldn't resist the laugh that bubbled out of him. Yet he didn't let her leave either. If she tried to flee, he pulled her back into his arms, not releasing her despite the plummeting rain beating down on them. Perhaps he was being too selfish, though he knew Hikari would forgive him for being so.
He didn't say a word. Communication was not needed as he spun her once more, letting the water spin from her skirts with every turn. A little rain didn't bother anyone, and seeing her just as giddy, that the rain didn't bother her, wanted him to keep this moment forever.
He laughed as he danced with her in the rain as though it weren't storming at all. They didn't need music or others to help lead the dance around the stage. All they needed was each other, and that was good enough for Balor.
