Apparently, she hadn’t been smooth at all. Johann looked at him, surprised and a little confused.

Her goal was… To do an okay job, of course, to be accepted here, both as a person and a farmer. And as much as she wanted to do her best, it looked like the more she tried to not bother March… She ended up doing exactly the opposite.

Green eyes blinked once, then twice, before she emitted a deep sigh, crouching suddenly then sitting right on the ground - putting the hoe down in the process. The blonde then chuckled, looking up at the man with a grin that was genuine - though a bit apologetic.

“Sorry. I’m really a handful for you, uh ?” She seemed - and was - sorry about it, but at least not deep in shame or anything.

“I’ll be taking a break right now. Hum, maybe not on the ground. But I’m taking it.”

And somehow it took March’s question for the woman to realise how hungry she was. “I’m… Pretty sure I ate something this morning ? Ah ! Yes ! I had a bit of jerky.”

She had like a few pieces left, but she only ate one. After all, she was short on money, and so on food as well.

“That counts, right ? Haha…” Oops. Okay she was fully aware that it wouldn’t help March’s worries. “I know it sounds like a bit of a disaster, but I survived a few months on my own, you know ? I’m not a total lost case. So you shouldn’t worry… Too much.”

Obviously she wasn’t helping on the matter. But she knew she could do it.

Johann stared at him, grateful. “But honestly, if you can stay, I won’t say no. Any help is welcome, and I know one must appreciate help when given.”

She really did know. Maybe others would help her in the future, but for now it was this man who was putting his life and job on the side to provide help. “I’ll do my best to not make you worry, March.”

Not moving from the ground just yet, Johann looked around. “Maybe I can at least gather my things so they don’t… Lay around. And then I’ll take a proper break. It’s just, this place and the people here count on me, don’t they ? I don’t want to slack off.”

It wasn't just a matter of money, or of her own survival. It was important for everyone here, and after being given this chance - a job, a place - Johann wanted to give something back. But all she had was time and energy.

❝ Yeah, you are. ❞ March didn't care to baby her when it was obvious she did this to herself. She was a handful, there was no doubt about that. But it didn't mean he was going to leave her completely helpless on a farm that was practically falling apart.

At least she was taking a break. Kind of. It was obvious she was still thinking about work with the way she was scanning the landscape, and he had to step in front of her path to keep her from doing so. At this rate, she really was going to pass out if she wasn't careful.

❝ A bit of jerky... ❞ He repeated, baffled by the sheer audacity to have admitted to eating practically nothing and calling it a meal. He couldn't believe it. He almost slapped his forehead from the shock, but eventually decided it wasn't worth the headache that was already building

She continued to babble on, talking about survival and welcoming his help, but right now, all he was focused on was getting her something to eat.

❝ Get up. ❞ Was all he said, his arms crossed until he eventually unraveled them to hold out his hand towards her instead, giving her assistance to pull her up onto her feet.

❝ I don't care about all that right now. It'll be fine. What I want to focus on, is getting you something to eat, okay? ❞ He huffed, obviously displeased and irritated, but still willing to give out a helping hands despite himself.

❝ We're going to the Inn to get something to eat. A REAL proper meal! ❞ He glared at her, as if anticipating her attempt to talk him out of it. If money was an issue for her and was worried about putting the tesserae down to feed herself, he added, ❝ My treat. You're in my hands now, and if something happens to you, I won't hear the end of it. So get up and let's go. ❞

Surely Reina would be working the kitchen by now, and she was surely the type to make sure no one went hungry in her presence. March was counting on it.

The morning of the market was a whirlwind of hustle and bustle. They had left early, so early that the sun was just barely peeking over the horizon, but Chloe hadn't wanted to be late. It was her first market and anxiety was running rampant. What if no one liked her stall? What if no one bought anything? What if it was all a mistake?

Thankfully, her sister Saoirse kept a level head. She sat Chloe in a chair and put her in charge of arranging the books on the table.

By the time people began trickling into the square to browse the stalls, she felt satisfied with how she had displayed everything. The books were all used, a few worn and well loved. It had taken a few months to collect them. While she had a little money from her divorce, she was trying to be frugal and careful with it.

She chewed on her lower lip. "Do you think anyone will come by?"

"Chloe, stop fretting. There's only a few people here." Saoirse ruffled Chloe's curls. "You're going to scare them off if you keep making that face."

"I'm not making a face!"

She was, in fact, making a face. Brows scrunched in worry, a frown tugging at her lips. She sighed. "I'm sorry. I just want it to go well. That's all."

Eiland got his usual dessert dripping drink from Darcy's booth, and made his way down the long stretch of various other booths. He waved to the regulars, having known Vera and Louis quite well given his regular hair trims and frequent clothes shopping.

But there was one particular booth he was most excited in visiting. Ever since Adeline told him the news about a used bookstore popping up as an addition to the Saturday Market, he was must have been more excited than anyone else in the entire town.

Eventually, he came upon it just at the right time. Having finished his drink and tossing it into a nearby bin, he approached the booth with a more than pleased expression lighting up his features.

❝ Hello, good morning! ❞ He beamed, his hand brushing over the spine of one of the nearest books. Maybe he could find a book on history, one specifically picked from the capital's library. He missed the hours he could spend at the library, considering Mistria didn't have one of their own at the moment. How long had it been since he'd added a new book to his shelf in his room, anyways?

❝ You must be the new addition to the market! ❞ He said, attempting small pleasantries despite the obvious. ❝ I was really happy to hear it when my sister told me the news. ❞

luna had all but forgotten about the umbrella. she was pretty sure it was presently being blown away by the wind. but she didn’t care. not when she was here, kissing sebastian — knowing that they would now be spending the rest of their lives together. the farmer still couldn’t believe it. 

if you had asked her a few years ago, she never would have thought she’d end up back here in pelican town. yet alone that she would one day settle down here. that she would fall in love with the very boy she’d once played in the mud and chased amphibians with, all those years ago. 

as he started to place the chain around her neck, she carefully moved her hair out of the way. though most of the red locks were now plastered to her pale skin. it was starting to rain harder; the chorus of frogs and rain hitting the water almost calming as she looked at the man she was going to marry. 

luna still couldn’t believe that this was happening. yoba, their friends were going to freak out. not to mention sebastian’s mother. something told the farmer she shouldn’t tell her own father. at least not for awhile. she wanted to savor this for as long as possible. she didn’t need him expressing his disappointment over something that made her happy.  he’d already done that enough when she moved to the valley.

her nose wrinkled a bit as the childhood nickname fell from his lips. luna let out a soft giggle, reluctantly pulling away. she was starting to feel cold. her clothes clinging to her frame as she held him the tinniest bit closer. “we should probably head back to the farm,” she murmured, almost reluctant. “though expect several more kisses. ideally when we have on some dry clothes and are under a nice, warm blanket the couch.”

She began to pull away and it took him everything in his power to not tug her back into his arms and keep her close. She was right though. The storm was becoming a torrential downpour and if they weren't careful, they could be caught in the crossfires of something dangerous. The last thing they needed now that they were engaged was to get caught in a mudslide.

His home was closer, but he was much more inclined to head back to the farm as well, even if it was a longer trek back. He wanted to be alone with her, away from the prying his eyes of his family who would most certainly catch on that something happened. He didn't want to tell them yet. Not right away, at least. Maybe tomorrow.

He took her hand into his and intertwined their fingers together. He stood, mud covered and all, and tugged her away from the pond.

❝ I like that idea, too. Though I can't say I'm hating the rain either. ❞ He replied, but understood the need to get out of it. It was a cold rain, telling them that winter was coming soon. They didn't need to get sick.

He rushed with her down the dirt path, their feet splashing water with every direct step into a puddle. He didn't mind the mud or the water in his shoes, though when he looked back at Luna who might as well looked like a drowned kitten, he couldn't resist the laugh that bubbled out of him.

They took the mountain pass, believing it would be faster, and soon enough, found their back onto Luna's farm into the safe warmth of her home.

By the time they pushed the door closed, the storm had gotten bad enough to rattle the windows. How they managed to make it back safely, he had no idea.

He leaned his back against the door and sighed, pushing his bangs out of his face. He was exhausted.

❝ Phew, made it. ❞

{ ♪ } -- "That's me!"

She smiled wide, tugging at one of the buns keeping her hair in place. Too many people got surprised when she said she was taking on a farm, but it wouldn't be that bad. There was a learning curve and it'd take time for her to clear the plot and earn enough money to make things easier, but at least she had instructions leftover for how to make certain things like sprinklers and all that.

"Yes, sir. I just hope Pierre doesn't get too irate with me needing so much of it, though I suppose I could go through Joja..." The idea left a sour taste in her mouth, mainly based on her interactions with the owner. "But I've got plenty of UV resistant clothes to wear, hats and sunglasses galore. I just don't have a hat on for my first foray into town."

His pause had earned a little laugh.

"You can call it whatever, I'm totally at peace with my albinism. It's just part of my life at this point. But I look forward to working with you! I'm sure you'll see more of me than you'd like."

Harvey winced at the mention of using Joja. He knew, right away, that Pierre wouldn't take too lightly to the local farmer using their resources to get through their work. Harvey could understand the concern from a corporate standpoint, but also understood that coming from a small town meant having to make some sacrifices. To some, Joja was their savior. Even he had to buy a few things through them because Pierre didn't have the means.

Her laugh made him flush, but he was happy to see that he didn't offend her. It sounded like she heard all sorts of aspects regarding her condition, and had grown a thick skin because of it.

❝ Oh, I certainly hope not. ❞ Harvey chimed in, though he realized that must have sounded as bad as when he paused mid-sentence earlier.

He quickly tried to dial back.

❝ What I mean to say is, is that I hope I don't have to see you for any medical reasons! I mean-- seeing you for work related reasons that involve medicine, is fine. And seeing you around town would be more than fine, too. ❞ He blabbered on, his hands pressed together and moving from right to left. Like point A to point B.

He flushed nervously, and laughed because he wasn't sure how else to get his point across.

❝ I, uh, I do hope we see each other more, is what I meant to say. Eh heh. ❞

Nice going, Harvey. That's definitely how you make friends.

Ariel knew she shouldn't surface as often as she did. She was aware of the risk of being seen by anyone - human, merfolk, other various creatures and beings. But Ariel was stubborn and had this spark of passion and hope to learn about humanity of all things. She knows that she shouldn't, she's been told well and long enough by those around her that she was foolish and too naïve for a young lady to do this. Yet, she's headstrong and careful and aware (mostly) of her surroundings to not get caught.

Though with flaming red hair, cerulean blue eyes, purple shells, and an emerald green tail...she wasn't the most inconspicuous mermaid around.

She surfaced with her coral bag attached to her shoulder as she headed to a flat slate of rocks to set her stuff on. From the distance, there seemed to be a shoreline. There was a wooden dock with a house and a boat that looked like it was ship wrecked and brought back to the surface attached to the back of the house. Further in the view, she saw another lone cabin. She looked around to make sure the coast was clear before she began to sort through her latest treasures as she began to hum softly to herself as she did.

❝ And here I thought mermaids were just myths. ❞ Elliott mused as he rowed up to the red haired woman's side.

Taking his boat out on a stroll out in the early morning, he thought it would be another eventless day of soaking up the sun's rays and hearing the ocean waves or the way his paddle glided through the water. It helped him relax and clear his mind before a big day of writing.

What he hadn't expected, was to see someone else in the water too. Especially so early in the morning when the water was far too cold, even for a surfer in a full bodysuit.

Instead, a flash of red hair had caught his attention and was cause to investigate. He'd never seen someone with hair more red than his. It was interesting enough for him to purposely seek them out. But what was even more interesting was seeing the flash of a tail out of the water and how she seemed so focused on whatever it was she found. Was she not careful enough to care about who could be around?

❝ That's not some kind of mermaid suit, is it? ❞ He asked, though the dark waters did hide what he was sure he saw, he could see some of the bright green coloration at her waist. Was she not freezing wearing nothing but a... bra? And a fake tail? If it was fake.

Still working on his page on the Carrd, but wanted to take a moment to introduce the farmer OC I will be adding to my muselist.

Feels right that since I have all the bachelors from sdv and fom on here, I should make the farmer an option, too!

I make him for every farming sim that I've played. It's tradition at this point. Farmer Lacey from Lavender Farms. I thought it would be fun to implement him into a playable muse on here c:

fun facts about him: Goes by he/him, but is androgynous and genderfluid in his style and looks, as well as his tastes. Has a cat named Kitty Baby and depending on the verse, it is either just a pet or a familiar. Natural aptitude to magic. Prefers to socialize and go foraging over other mechanics like crop tending, mining, and fishing/bug catching. Gift giving is his love language.

"Keh."

A human taller than he was, that was saying something. He'd never seen the other in such close proximity. He'd been about to say something sharp, too, but... that god damned calming scent. It wasn't that it stopped Inuyasha, so much as it made him put a little more consideration into who he might have been talking to. The more enthusiastic voice, that added to it.

Such old, deep memories. This was a different person, but... he couldn't bring himself to be overtly sharp.

"...I guess I didn't think about that. Wouldn't have mattered if she did." He didn't really consider the words themselves. How many years had he actually talked to someone? Even more so, a time where demons didn't live openly. Didn't attack people. A time that had no place for such things.

A time that had no place for half-demons, either. That was the point of the hat, which his own ears wouldn't let him forget. Hidden as they were, the baseball cap he had no choice but to resort to caused his ears to throb after a while. They were sensitive, and it hurt to have them confined in such a tight space. Inuyasha was referring to how a running horse would do no more than knock him back, and that was if he didn't use force to stop one. No ordinary animal was strong enough to damage him.

"Anyway," His tone steadied itself into his usual nonchalance, while the strong breeze pulled at long, silver hair. "What about you?" It may not have been as visible anymore, but he could pick up the minerals of dirt on the other's clothes. "She didn't crash into ya before gettin' away, did she?" Brows furrowed. "I guess I could carry ya t'some... doctor," That was the word for it in these times. "If that's what y'need."

Hayden was impressed. For someone to think a horse running into them didn't matter said a lot about the person he was talking to now. He looked the man over from head to toe. He wasn't as tall as him, though no one was. But he was filled out in all the ways Hayden was, and he appeared to be just as strong, if not more powerful, if he was willing to step in front of a wild horse. Hayden couldn't put an age to the face, given his white hair, but he seemed to be on the younger side.

He put his hands on his hips, smiling a wide grin stretched across his stubbled face. Whoever this new stranger passing by was, Hayden was enthralled by him.

❝ Hm? ❞

What about him?

He looked down at his state, and found a few more clumps of dirt or grass on himself that he easily wiped away. He shook out his clothes to get the rest off for good measure as well.

After moving his arms did he feel a string on his elbow that made him wince. He might have gotten injured, but he didn't think it needed to involve a doctor.

❝ I may have not crashed into the horse, but I sure did crash into the dirt! GYA HA HA! ❞ He threw his head back, releasing a boisterous laugh that might as well have shook the earth where they stood.

He simply laughed off the scrape, giving a shake of his head.

❝ Don't think I'll be needing a doctor. A scrape is an easy clean up, and I got a first aid kit right in my house. It'll patch me right up. ❞ He said, pointing with his thumb behind him towards the direction of said home.

❝ Say-- wouldn't mind having you join me for some lunch, if you want. Best I can do to thank you for stopping Miss. Lulu over there. ❞ He grinned. Now that the mouse had scurried away to better pastures, Lulu had calmed down and was now in the fields grazing. Calm as ever, as if she'd never panicked in the first place. But Hayden loved her just the same.

Even before Eiland had the epistle fully unfolded, Hope already had a feeling that whatever the other man planned to show him was going to be impressive. He could just tell.

And it became clear he was right as he peered over Eiland's shoulder at the text. He had never heard of the dragonsworn before, but it sounded important. What exactly it was remained a mystery however. Though perhaps they could get a clue from the name.

❝Dragonsworn...maybe someone who served as an attendant to a dragon, or their knight?❞ Of course it also could be a more symbolic title. Maybe a devoted knight who was like a dragon in fierceness?

Or it might not even be a person, maybe it was some kind of object

❝There's also the possibility that its some kind of offering, something that was sworn to be given to the dragon?❞ If that was the case it was hopefully an object, but there was also the darker possibility that it could be a person that was offered to a dragon. Either as a spouse or a sacrifice.

He hoped that wasn't the case though. History had dark things in it, and you couldn't just close your eyes to them and pretend they didn't exist, but that didn't mean it was pleasant to learn.

A more light hearted thought crossed his mind however, and Hope let out a small chuckle.

❝Maybe we're reading it wrong. What if it's not dragonsworn, but dragon's worn? Perhaps its the clothing of a dragon.❞ It was a ridicuclous notion, and he doubted there was any chance it was true, but it was funny to think about.

Eiland glanced to where Hope was hovering over his shoulder to see the unraveled epistle. He waited for him to make his own assessment, to see if maybe he could see something that Eiland missed.

An attendant to a dragon or even their knight. It could be a possibility given what the scroll entailed, but he was curious to see if Hope had any other ideas.

An offering or something sworn to the dragons of old. That was also a beautiful hypothesis.

Even dragon's worn could be an accurate assumption.

❝ Perhaps. ❞ Eiland chuckled. An article of clothing seemed possible considering another scroll he had in his collection depicting a crude drawing of a knight in armor. Clad in silver and purple, and words in text he couldn't translate. But he had a feeling the two scrolls had something in common given their shared art of a dragon on it.

❝ I even-- ❞ He began to roll the scroll back up, wanting to preserve its contents and believing they were finished looking it over, before he stopped in his tracks. Something he never noticed before on the back caused him to reopen it and flip it over so the back was facing them.

❝ This symbol... ❞ He mused, index finger hovering over a crest in the far corner of the scroll. How he could have missed it, he would never know. It was such a silly mistake to make as a scholar that he almost felt pathetic upon discovering it after all this time. He only ever read the front. Never the back.

❝ I've seen this before...! ❞ He proclaimed. ❝ This very same symbol is on a plaque near the manor! ❞ He looked at Hope, eyes twinkling with excitement. For the first time since he started reading about the Dragonsworn, he felt he might have finally found a lead.

Maybe Hope really was a dedication to his name. Eiland almost had lost his own hope before the shared scholar had joined him, and now he felt rejuvenated by finding such an amazing discovery. Or maybe Hope was just a beacon of good luck!
