@flowithpoe replied to “I am probably the only one who doesn’t like Vanya”: I also do not like her!!! And I think the fact that so many people are talking about how good she is makes me dislike her even more
It’s strange because Vanya is a character I really relate to, feeling isolated from the family, my parental-figure is terrified of me, and everyone either lying or not including me in family meetings - I completely relate to her on those things. What I don’t like about Vanya is how she manages to make herself the victim in every scenario, leaked all the family secrets (where people could hurt her family), dismisses Five’s feelings that he opened up to her about and is completely disrespectful to Allison attempting to make amends, all for a boy she just met.
Trust me, I understand Vanya was in an abusive relationship, where the guy manipulated her - trust me, I completely get it, I was there. When Vanya killed Pogo, Mom, and left Allison there to die - it hurt so much because she wanted to be apart of this family and her actions scream otherwise. I get that all Vanya needs is a hug, but Allison tried to give that to her and she turned her away.
I’m really glad that at the end of the season it was Allison seeing redemption in Vanya, despite the fact that she left her there to die, and there is nothing more painful than seeing Allison go to save Vanya and she lashed out at her, instead. Allison, when faced with the decision to kill Vanya or risk everything by saving her, chose to risk it all. Of course, I am completely here to see how Vanya’s siblings try to save her, as a child, in S2, despite Vanya’s belief that they didn’t love her.
