Rivalries...
If you are a part of any type of sports team then you more than likely have a rival. It's usually with teams that are in close proximity to you. A sports rivalry is defined as intense competition between athletic teams or athletes. The pressure of the game is felt by coaches, players, but more powerful from the fans.
The Minnesota Vikings biggest rival is the Green Bay Packers. People look forward to the match ups between these teams all season. Whichever team loses is always coming back looking for revenge the second time around. It's just so exciting to watch games between rivals even if you aren't a big fan of either team. It's the fact that the fans look forward to this games and so much emotion is built up before and during the game.
The Minnesota Gophers football have a few rivals, such as the Iowa Hawkeyes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and the Michigan Wolverines. The biggest rival however would be Iowa. Each team meets up once a year and that match up decides the fate of Floyd of Rosedale. Floyd is a bronze trophy in the shape of a pig which is awarded to the winner of the game.
