You and Caitlyn were having a very (small) heated back and forth about the infamous football star at Piltover High.
Her name triggered something in you bad.
Sevika and you had some sort of typical high school cliche where the high school jock hated the high school nerd. Not to discredit you or give yourself a stereotypical label (you hate when others do that) but it's true. This ongoing "war" between you and Sevika has been going on since freshman year. It all started when she tripped you ON PURPOSE in the cafeteria on the first day of high school. Ever since then, you held a grudge.
You and your best friend Caitlyn were standing by the lockers waiting for Vi your girlfriend, so you three can head into class. You and Vi have been dating since sophomore year so for about two years you've guys been together.
And it couldn't be more perfect.
"I just don't understand why I dunno, you let it go." Caitlyn said while munching on some chips she stole from your locker a period ago.
"Because! It's like the principal. If I let it go then she'll win."
"(y/n) you have some serious issues."
"You say issues I say consistency."
"Hi my pretty girl." Vi comes walking up to you two. She pulls you in close and kisses your cheek and then waves to Caitlyn while slightly adjusting her backpack. "So what are you guys talking about?"
"We're talking about (y/n)'s ongoing beef with Sevika."
"Sevika? Babe, come on, don't even worry about her. Don't even let her stress you out."
You sighed, not wanting to give her any more attention. You had other things to worry about. You were the student body president. You shouldn't let someone as insignificant as Sevika stress you out.
The bell rang, signaling it was time for class to start. Luckily, you had this class with Vi and Caitlyn, so the period should go by pretty quickly. You sit down in your unassigned assigned seat that you've been sitting in since September. You pull out your notebook and your pencil case, ready to get started on today's lesson.
"Oh shit." Caitlyn giggled, making you look towards her.
"What?" You immediately knew it was some shit, unfortunately.
"Just look, you'll wanna see this."
Reluctantly (y/n) looked up to see what her best friend was looking at.
Of course there she was. Fucking Sevika.
Of course it had to be her.
Since when was she even in this class anyways? It's been months since school had started, why was being placed in this class now? And a junior chemistry class mind you ...
You were confused but you couldn't let her see that her presence bothered you. One: you didn't want her to know you cared so much, even if you did. Two: you had a reputation to uphold. You couldn't let your peers that elected you see you partake in something so childish.
You didn't even bother giving her a glance while she walked through the class to find an empty seat. New game plan: Ignore her.
Class went by as slowly as it possibly could. Dragging onto every single minute. Before you knew it, The class was over. The bell rung notifying that school was done for the day. Everyone began to pick up their belongings to start to exit the classroom and the following after, the school building. You, your girlfriend, and your best friend began to leave the classroom until your teacher asked you, "(y/n) would you mind staying after class? I have something to ask of you."
You nodded signaling that you'll stay after class. "I'll catch up with you guys later." Vi squeezed your hands while Caitlyn waved goodbye. You stood there waiting for your teacher to asked you whatever it was until she walked away from you all the way to the back of the classroom. She went to a desk that had a student still napping with their head down. Your teacher knocked on the desk waking up the student. "Come on Sevika, You need to wake up."
Again. Sevika, Sevika, Sevika.
Was the universe playing a joke on you?
Did they find your pain hilarious?
Did the people up above look down upon you and see what you're going through and find themselves looking for popcorn???
You almost had to laugh at your own self pity.
Sevika then started to wake up from her nap. She yawed looking around the classroom, surprised to see the full classroom now empty. Instead of it being full, now herself, (y/n), and their teacher take up the space. She stretched her arms wide fulling setting in from her nap.
"What happened?" She deadpanned.
How on earth could she be so nonchalant about what is happening?
It's like every little thing the older girl did, it just made you dislike her even more.
"I know you're probably busy with your studies and student council thing (y/n) but, I would greatly appreciate it if you'd tutor Sevika one on one." Your teacher beamed.
"WHAT?!" Maybe that response was too loud, but WHAT??? Tutoring Sevika would be the equivalent to admitting yourself into a psych ward.
Yes, it would be that bad.
"Yeah no, not happening." Sevika stood up from her desk and began to walk away, seemingly unaware that she didn't have much of a choice.
"Sevika I'm not asking you. You know your grades are horrible. You were switched to my class for a reason. You couldn't even keep up with your grade level. And that's senior level chemistry. How do you think you can pass this class without help?" The teacher genuinely seemed confused. "This was the arrangement and you know that. Sevika if you cannot pass my class then you'll not only not able to keep up with your athletics but you'll also won't be able to graduate."
Just then, you saw a face you'd never thought you'd see Sevika make. Panic.
The class got silent, your teacher and mainly Sevika confused in your response. "Really? Oh that's amazing, you see I'd didn't think you would actually want to do it. Thank you so much (y/n)." You swore your teachers face was turning into a shade of rose from excitement.
"Sevika! What do we say to (y/n) now that agreed to help you?" Your teacher asked Sevika in an obvious tone, knowing that Sevika knew the answer.
"Thanks." Sevika replied, she didn't even bother looking at you, not that you wanted her to anyways. Her response was so dry you swore you could hear the ash of dryness in her voice.
"You're welcome." The fakeness (we know not a real word) was so obvious that you could feel it. You replied to the older with the fakest smile ever known to mankind. Your face instantly hurting from smiling so hard.
"Okay that settles it!" After your teacher made sure it was understood what both your responsibilities were, you both left the classroom. You now stood in an empty hallway, you've never seen a place normally filled so deserted.
You began to walk away immediately pulling out your phone to text Vi where she and Caitlyn had gone to.
Of course it had to be Sevika, calling your name like that.
Who does she think she is? Why did she think she even say your name like she had permission from you?
And why did she say it so beautifully? ...
"What?" That seemed to be your response to everything today. So short and quick. Just like how you wanted this conversation to be.
"Relax, I just wanted to say thank you for agreeing to tutor me seeing that I possibly cannot stand you." You heard the dryness of her usual tone be replaced with something else. Humor. She found humor is annoying you. Great.
"And wait where did the sweetness in your voice go just now? I'm missing all of that artificial sweetener. Now tell me is that just for teachers that you can't help but be a pet for or-"
You interrupted her, not wanting to hear her voice any longer. "I'd have you know, I only sound like that to people I have no problem talking to. I guess like you'll never hear me sound like that." You said in a hushed tone.
"Oh great for me." Sevika then paused. "Hey but seriously, you obviously didn't have to tutor me so thank you for that." You never heard her sound so sincere. You never considered that something like that could be possible for her.
There was a quick silence between the two of you. Neither of you had never had a conversation with each other and neither of you ever had a conversation this long. Something about it was new but felt familiar at the same time.
"So," You spoke breaking the silence between you two. You didn't care for how this awkward wasn't as awkward as you would have assumed it to be. "Where do you care to study at? Cafe, school library, a recreation center, it's honestly your call."
"What?" No. She couldn't be serious. She possibly couldn't be serious.
"Come on, it won't be that bad. Plus it's more convenient for me anyways."
You sighed. You're unsure if you sighed internally or externally but it doesn't matter. You normally have the answers to everything. You could predict movies ending before anyone else could, but you can't predict her. Sevika.
Sevika smirked. It was small but still a smirk somehow.
"Alright, pass me your phone."
"What?" You swear you've never said the word "what" so much in your life before.
"So I can put my number in your phone. Why else?"
You rolled your eyes, "What could I possibly need your number for?"
"What the fuck?- Did you suddenly lose your brain cells? Why else would you need my number? So we can update each other on tutoring hours. Hello?" Sevika was genuinely confused on if the supposed brainiac was just pulling an act on her.
"Oh shit whoops. Fuck fine I guess, Here." (y/n) unlocked her phone then shuffled through her apps to find the phone app before passing it to Sevika. The older girl then tapped away her phone number, handing the phone back to its owner.
"Guess I'll see you later then, Teach."
Sevika smirked and walked past you. Her shoulder then colliding into yours bumping into each other. For a moment. No. Just a second, you swore you felt a jilt of electricity when both of your bodies made physical contact. Even if it was again, just for a second.
You then stood there, alone in the hallways, stuck with your thoughts of the previous events that just happened. You agreed to help yes, however, you had something different in mind.
New (new) game plan: Take Sevika down.
"That sounds like a horrible plan."
You and Caitlyn were in your bedroom together doing today's homework. Normally Vi would have joined you but she decided to pick up an extra shift at work. You were catching Caitlyn up on what took place in the classroom after she had left.
"It's not a horrible plan, it's a perfect plan. I'm going to make sure she flunks. Easy as pie."
"Okay so what would you be gaining from this?"
Happiness. You would be gaining happiness from seeing Sevika's downfall.
"Seeing the look on her face when she realizes she should have never cross me. That will bring me enough satisfaction."
Caitlyn sighed, "(y/n) I honestly feel like this is a terrible idea. You shouldn't give her any of your energy. She's not worth it."
"But as your best friend I'm on board with anything you do."
You beamed at Caitlyn's reply. You knew deep down that this was a waste of your time. You knew. But with that, you don't let people walk over you. And Sevika was trying her luck with you. Would you regret this? Only time will tell.
"So what exactly is your plan? How are you planning on making her fail?"
"I'm so glad you asked!" You got up and walked over to your backpack and took out your journal. You flipped through the pages and laid on the page titled "TAKEDOWN DEMON SPAWN"
The list had five bullet points that said the following.
three. become her "friend"
four. make sure she lets her guard down around you
"I don't know if I should be impressed or scared."
Later that night long after Caitlyn went home, you were laying in bed mindlessly scrolling through social media while texting Vi, You were so close to falling asleep until your phone pinged. An unknown number had sent you a message and you already knew who it was.
hope uuuuu enjoy lmk if you want a part two!
