The entire reason people need/want podcast apps or rss readers is because content was scattered all over the place. like instead of visiting 493 different blogs every day, you could go to Google Reader.
This is literally going to a single website, one run by a non-profit organization, and profiting off of the content. it’s not providing a service that the original site doesn’t already provide! you can access AO3 on your phone, you can download fic to your ereader, it’s extremely mobile friendly already.
Literally the only thing these apps do is provide a profit stream to their creators by exploiting content provided to a third party website for free, based on the infrastructure created and defended by a single nonprofit organization over the last ten years and the work of countless volunteers and authors/creators with the understanding that content would only be used by AO3 because it had built and established trust within the community providing content.
Fuck these self-serving rationalizations. They’re wrong and they know they’re wrong. They just know we have little recourse to stop them.
