“What d’you think?” Ace asked excitedly, pulling open the curtain of his changing room.
Your mouth fell a little, while your brain went numb. No words came to mind as you detailed your boyfriend. Fitted in vintage Levi jeans, a washed out red shirt, a pair of black pumps and a leather jacket, Ace looked dashing. Was it a classic look? Absolutely. But don’t fix it if it ain’t broken; and Ace in this outfit definitely was not broken.
“Babe?” he wondered, faced with your silence.
Suddenly realizing how long you had remained quiet, you started by smiling. If no words could come to mind at least you could show that you approved of the look.
“D’you like it?” Ace asked with a grin.
Your smile still growing, you nodded. Then, slowly, you approached. Shamelessly checking him out, you motioned to Ace to do a 360 turn. Understanding where you were going, he did not discuss. Instead, he slowly spinned on himself and stopped when his back was facing you.
“So?” he wondered after a few seconds, meeting your gaze in the mirror across from him.
Being right behind him now, you nodded.
“I think you look amazing.”
And for good measure, you accompanied your sentence by a quick slap on the butt.

It's like he could sense it. He might not have been the most in tune with people when it comes to emotions, but when it came to yours it was an entirely different story. He could sense it the second that he walked into the house.
There was something off.
Eren Yeager could feel it in every single inch of his body. Your emotions were his, and his were yours. You were more in sync with each other than you would admit to anyone else.
His feelings were confirmed as he turned the corner and saw how you sat before him on the couch. The blanket that was draped around your entire body, shielding you from the outside world. The comfort movie that played on the television, the same one that you played whenever you were having a rough day that made you feel like everything would be alright. You didn't think he could hear the slight sound of your sighs, but they were just loud enough that he caught them.
Eren's large figure approached the door frame of the living room, knuckles wrapping against it ever so gently as he let all of his features soften for you. This was a side of him that only you were able to see, something he had always hidden from the others.
His voice was soft as he moved closer to you, his wide shoulders blocking the light that came from the ceiling fan as you looked up at him.
"My, oh my. You are such a beautiful creature." He nearly cooed it as he bent down in front of you and placed a hand lovingly on your leg.
And you were never able to stay too upset when he was around. Something about the way he'd do anything to make you smile, even going as far as making himself look like a complete and utter fool if that's what it took.
Your distressed eyes met his hopeful ones and the way they shimmered made yours well up with gratefulness. You had been waiting all day for him to get home, deep down knowing that everything would be okay again once he did.
Before he could say another word to you, you dropped the blanket from your shoulders, letting your body move on its own. Next thing you knew you were in his arms, the jump causing him to stumble a little before catching himself to stay upright.
"Now, now, what's got you all stirred up, darling?" His large hand pressed against the back of your head, pulling you close to his shoulder as he kept his strong arms around your torso.
This was home.
"I just-" You honestly didn't know what had you so upset today, it just wasn't your day in the universe. From the second you had woken up to the second that he had walked through the door it had felt like you just couldn't get out of your own way. "I just want the day to be over with. Nothing I do is enough."
Eren took an arm and freed it, grabbing onto the blanket that you had dropped and picking you up from the couch as he stood. "I think after a long day it's time for you to get some rest, yeah?"
You nodded, you wanted nothing more than to lay in bed, curled up in what was your own personal safe space. His arms.
Your legs wrapped around his waist as he carried you down the hallway, the familiar halls of your home passing just barely visible out of the narrow of your eyes. One door, two doors, your bedroom would be the next one. You could finally get some much-needed mental rest. And Eren would be there to help you through it, just like he always was.
He set you down, the silky feel of your sheets making you relax almost as easily as he did. Your eyes stayed closed the entire time, fighting back the need to cry, not because you were still upset, but because with the events of the day, it was something your body needed.
The dip of the mattress told you he was joining you, the wave that it created almost rolling your body directly into his. The light of the tv coming on made your eyes open and the sounds of your comfort movie filled your ears as you looked up at the man that pulled your body into his.
His long, brown hair was now pulled into his signature bun, no longer hanging down as it had been when he had gotten home. The shirt that had clung to his body that was stained from work was off, his warm chest making your eyes close once again.
Eren's deep voice was just barely heard as you felt yourself drifting off to sleep. "Don't worry about a thing, my love. Just let your eyes close. And once you wake up, I promise that everything will be alright." He pushed stray hairs from your face and kissed the side of your head delicately.
"I'm not going anywhere. And I'll love you for the rest of our lives and far beyond. So just let that wild mind rest, and know that I'll always be here to fight whatever demons might rise and try to make you feel like you're not enough." He hummed gently and rubbed his hand up and down on your back. "You're always enough. You're all I've ever needed and wanted."

It had been a rough few days. Renji had sensed it. He had just returned from the human world, but he could tell that he had been away for far too long. Usually, he made sure that he was only gone for a week or so, but this time had been nearly a month.
It was weighing on you. Renji was your rock, the reason that you were able to get up every day and have a sense of security. When he was gone for a long time it made you feel like a part of you was missing. And that part of you always seemed like the best part of you.
When Renji walked through the front door after his latest training session with Byakuya he could already tell that you were having a rough one. His feet made their way for the bedroom quickly, a weird feeling in his gut telling him that it was where you would be. He was right, completely right.
You were curled up into the blankets, staring out the window as the sun began to set. It looked to him like you hadn’t really gotten out of bed since he had left the house that afternoon. He peeled his robes from his body and threw on a pair of sweatpants, climbing into bed beside you. His soft lips pressed to your temple as his strong arms wrapped around you. “Sweetheart…” Renji’s voice was soft and smooth, calming even as you listened intently. Just the sensation of him being there was already easing you. “Talk to me. Tell me what’s going on.”
You shook your head at him, trying to push it off. The last thing that you wanted to do was worry Renji. “It’s nothing, I’m fine. Please don’t worry. I just need some time to chill for a while.”
Renji’s body moved closer to yours, he knew you better than you knew yourself and he always wondered why you tried to hide anything from him. His crimson hair dangled into your face as he leaned over you. “You can’t lie to me. I’m not stupid. I know you better than you think that I do. You can’t hide this stuff. Though you do always put up such a good effort when you try it.”
You swallowed hard and turned onto your back, his arms still securely around you. “I just get scared when you’re gone for long periods of time. But it’s nothing to worry about. I’ll be okay. I just need to get used to it.” You reached up and cupped his face in your hands. “You’re one of the soul reapers appointed solely to the human world now, I should get used to you having to be gone more often.”
Renji pushed his lips out and captured yours with them, knowing that there was more to it than you were letting up but not wanting to push it any further. He knew when you were at your limit and respected your boundaries. Renji was just happy that you had opened up as much as you did for him.
Instead, he did his favorite thing and teased you. “Come on darling. I know what this is really about. You’re afraid that if I keep going to the human world to see Ichigo he might become my favorite person, right?” He chuckled and peppered your face in kisses. “I promise that the carrot top will never take your place. Not now, now ever. You’ll always be my favorite person.”
You nearly melted at his words, knowing that he had sensed the way you had needed that affirmation. You let out a small whimper as you wrapped your arms around him and pulled him toward you, leaning into his body as he settled in next to you. “Thank you, Renji. I- I didn’t realize just how much I really needed to hear that.”
His smile spread across his face, the sound that you made giving him a sense of comfort. It was the sound that you always gave him when you were feeling better, the one that he loved more than anything to hear. It was then that he knew that you would be okay, as long as he continued, and he had all night long to do so. If praise and affirmation were what you wanted, that’s exactly what Renji Abarai was going to give you.

“Which one do you think would fit best?” you asked.
Law examined the two pictures you were presenting to him. He thought for a moment then replied:
“The left one.”
It was a photograph of Bepo hugging the captain, who could not conceal his smile. Meanwhile the other picture, showcasing the bear triumphantly carried by the crew, was placed on the next page.
You had been unsure when suggesting to make a photo album as a present for Bepo’s birthday, but Law had been adamant. He loved the idea and insisted that his second in command would enjoy the gift. Thus, you planned a few afternoons of collecting photographs and memories, and gluing them in a beautiful, orange, cloth-bound book.
Law was very meticulous in selecting which photographs and quotes would go into the present. He was also very clear, when he invited the crew to write a few sentences each on the last few pages, that no idiocy would be tolerated. This was a special gift, for a special someone, and he wanted to keep it that way.
With the last photographs glued, you let Law carefully wrap the book in craft paper. Then, adding a bow and a card, you were done with the finishing touches.
“Happy?” you wondered.
The smile on Law’s face was enough of a response, yet he replied:
“Very.”
Standing up, he tucked the present away in his nightstand to hide until the due date, a few days ahead. The subtle bounce in Law’s walk was sufficient to tell how excited he was.
A week later, a white bear would involuntarily recreate one of the pictures from the photo book he had just been gifted by his best friend, as he hugged his captain tightly.

A fresh wind blew over the field, transporting wild pieces of dry grass and dust. You breathed in, the scent of the cooking in a nearby cabin traveling to your nose. Licking your lips, you opened your eyes. White, puffy clouds were speckling the bright blue, high noon sky.
The hand holding your own squeezed around yours. You turned to Luffy, who was smiling softly.
“Were you sleeping?” he wondered.
“No, no, don’t worry.” After a pause you added: “I was just enjoying this moment.”
Luffy smiled brightly at you. His gaze then traveled back to the sky.
“Hey!” he shouted. “That cloud looks like Merry!” he added, pointing at a white puff.
Upon closer inspection, you saw the shape too. The round head, the curled horns, the long neck attaching it to a vague ship shape.
You smiled at the realization.
Looking around, you searched for a fun cloud yourself. After a few seconds, you piqued Luffy’s interest by pointing at a straw hat shaped one.
This prompted him to press his free hand against his own hat.
“Oh! What about that one?” you pointed again.
“Oh, yes! It’s meat-shaped!”
You smiled at his enthusiasm, when the scent of food once again hit your nostrils. Maybe it was time to grab lunch.

“Let me walk you home,” he had offered. You had considered turning him down, not wanting to be a bother, but you would be lying if you said you had not spent a wonderful evening and wanted it to last a little longer. So you said yes, and here you were now.
You had hoped to hold his hand, or at the very least for your knuckles to “accidentally” brush against each other, but Drake’s hands were deep in the pockets of his thick, winter coat. So that was not an option.
Pretending to be cold was not one either. You had left home prepared, wearing everything necessary to resist a chilly, winter night. And you were not about to deprive him of an essential piece of clothing.
A conversation, perhaps, then? At the very least? …No? No.
For some reason, as soon as you left the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, Drake became quiet as a tomb.
Approaching your front door, you slowed down, then came to a halt. You faced Drake for the first time since you left your dinner table.
“This is me, then,” you declare, a bit obviously.
Drake only nodded.
“Did you have a pleasant evening?” he asked hesitantly.
You smiled in return. “I had a wonderful time.”
Drake finally smiled again.
“Very well,” he started. “I will see you, then.”
Even in the darkness, you could tell he was blushing.
Drake turned around to leave, when you suddenly called out his name.
