Father's Daughter.
(Short fluffy parentmor ficklet for the best criminal dad ever.)
It had been a misserable week.
Sebastian had to travel for a job, leaving sick Astrid to Jim.
The man had occational help from Richard but the bulk of the situation fell on him.
In the middle of the night after a good day, where Astrid's cough and runny nose hadn't been that bad, her fever spiked and the exhausted criminal had to do his best to awake himself to tend to the child.
Giving up on waiting on the medication to take effect, and the wet towels to the forehead to help.
He picks up the ill child carrying her to the bathroom, distracting her with a story about adventure and far off lands as the tub filled. And he gently removed Sebastian's light oversized shirt she insisted sleeping in whenever the man was away on business as it was the case.
Sitting her in the cool water as she whinnes and clings to the man's arm as closely as she can, trying not to touch the water too much.
Calming her down.
Jim's hoarsed, & heavy irish brawl, coated with sleep hushes her slightly as he gently pours some of the water over her, explaining why this was necessary.
After some crying from the child and finishing the bath.
The exhausted father scoops up the sniffling child, wrapping her in a towel like a burrito, carrying her back to her room, allowing her back into Sebastian's oversized shirt.
Laying down next to her after drying her hair and checking the fever went down. The man slides into sleep soon after she does, in the middle of a story he was telling her.
Waking up in the morning he finds the small girl with her toy stethoscope pressed against his chest listening attentively.
Seeing him wake up she grins at him.
"You got sick papa, I take care of you now" she smiles proudly and only then, as he sits up he notices the entier pack of Nightmare before christmas bandaids wrappers around them.
Noticing one of them on his hand, assuming the rest where on his face.
Smiling at the child he picks her up cuddling her on his lap.
"Well, aren't I lucky to have such a good doctor carrying for me, huh?" He whispers to her in a hoarsed voice.
As the front door opens, Sebastian's particular boot sounding foot steps aproaching the room follows.
"Jim? Astrid? I'm home!"
