fingers still from fiddling with startling red hair,   tayuya taking a moment to just re associate  herself with her surroundings,   the rise and fall of karin’s chest and the minute flickering from the overhead light in the lab.     per her insistence,   if karin was going to spend all her time in the fucking dingy ass lab,   she could damn well put a couch or something in there so tayuya’s ass wouldn’t go numb while watching her girlfriend whittle away the hours.     long after the sun had gone down and the lab illuminated itself with the clinical white glow of the overhead lights,   the oto nin had managed to use her oh so powerful words of persuasion and tug the redhead onto the couch,   a pleased tayuya settling herself atop the other in a rather subtle moment of intimacy and affection.

now,   with the half drowsy words from the other,   tayuya is snapped out of the reverie both had found themselves in where the world outside of the lab didn’t exist,   the things that bound them to this fucking place where meaningless.    now,   it all snapped back with a painful clarity and tayuya almost feels mad at karin for messing it all up with some soppy shit.     ❛   why?   why waste your time wishing for some dumb shit that isn’t gonna’ happen?   ❜    porcelain features twist in a reactionary anger,   red eyes behind elegant glasses flash with hurt,   but tayuya already pushed herself off of the couch.     anger burning acidic,   low butthere,   right in the pit of her gut.     why did karin have to say shit like this,   like they could somehow fucking change the shitty situation they were in?     ever get out from under orochimaru’s thumb,   like they both didn’t bear the scars from this fucking place.      a derisive scoff,   and her features twist in a sneer.     ❛   fuckin’ hell karin,   i didn’t have you down for a fucking crybaby.   ❜

karin’s curled into tayuya , half asleep , slender arms curled around the other’s waist as she lays on the dingy sofa. she probably should have gotten a better couch , especially since this one is itchy as fuck and karin hates it ; but she’s got a soft spot for tayuya and allowed herself to give in to the other with enough persuasion on the other’s part.  maybe she’ll get a better one soon enough , something soft that she can sink into. she does fall asleep often enough in her lab , maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea.  she allows herself a moment of weakness , fingers trailing on tayuya’s bare arms where she wishes for a different world , where they weren’t --- this. a mess of emotions , something wrecked , something that people only want pay attention to when they need something. allows herself to be raw with the person that she loves.  the hum of her machines in the background as it goes through the dna that karin’s inserted for a lab test. tayuya pulls herself up and off the couch and her expression changes through hurt to anger in an instant. what a goddamn bitch.  bare lips purse , “ fuck you tayuya. you aren’t better than me. you can’t fuckin’ tell me you don’t wish even once that you were somewhere else. don’t be a fuckin’ bitch. ” probably not the wisest choice of words from the redhead as she shifts and pushes herself up on the couch into a sitting position to glare at her girlfriend.  a hand comes up to ruffle through her hair , as she adjusts her glasses and shoots a glare at magenta-haired nin.  “ grow up. ” wishes were just that , wishes. she’s too old for fairy tales , and in otogakure everyone knows that it’s where you go to die.  karin knows that she’s not meant for anything good in her life , she’s never had anything good. even this -- between the two of them , was volatile at best. emotions brimming just underneath the skin waiting to clash. “ it’s not like i’m saying anything that no one has ever fuckin’ thought. ”
