"Is that you asking if I'd tell you or is that you asking me to tell you?" Zazie smirked slightly, not above making an annoying little joke even in the midst of serious times. The playful demeanor fades, however, just as fast as it came.
"I have a choice to make, Doctor Rook, a choice that's going to affect the rest of the planet in it's entirety for the rest of its existence. We Worms are the planet, as close as a living entity can be to physically being the sand, the rocks, the very wind. Every move we make must be calculated to maintain and preserve our home and thus, our life. Humans only think in the immediate, the now, what will sustain their one life or the lives of their family. They aren't willing, usually, to sacrifice themselves for the survival of the species. Or the world. Otherwise Earth wouldn't be a husk." They look up at him, expression mostly neutral but grim too. A being willing to do whatever it took to keep their species and their planet alive.
"The closer I get to humans, the harder the decision becomes. The more I learn to connect, the less likely I think it is that humans will sustain themselves without destroying all of us." They look away, staring out the window with eyes that are elsewhere, far away. "You, and to a lesser degree Rayen, want to understand as much as I do. Maybe with your knowledge there might be a chance of cooperation. But every day that goes past is more damage done that we may not be able to balance out. Sometimes we wish humans had never crashed here. We would be alone, but we didn't know what alone felt like then. We will when you're all gone."
