wbg for the ask game 🤠
Send me series and I’ll tell you my:
Favorite character
I was going to go with the bit and yell out about Eagle but honestly, it's the Mikes. I adore them. If I had to choose only one Mike, I'd choose Emdubya!
Second favorite character
EAGLE 🥰💗😍💖
Least favorite character
Ty Betteridge? Stupid motherfucking mike collecting dust eating- I'm joking, I love Ty. I don't think I have a character I would rank as "least favorite".
Hmm, well maybe Brendon Evans. Like, yeah, your little brother was a bad guy but fuck, dude. He was still your little brother. Donny was right about you.
The character I’m most like
Mikey 😔 We have similar views on things, and I am also a coward and I would also get killed almost as many times as he did if you'd put me in WOE.BEGONE.
Favorite pairing
Oh, this is hard. But I'm going to go with MikeMichael because I actually adore the selfcest trope and I think they have a lot of chemistry. If they were different people and not already taken, I'm sure they would've been the top pairing in the fandom.
Least favorite pairing
CANNONBALL and Kate. I'm glad he left her to become the henchman of a sadistic gay bear instead.
Favorite moment
THERE'S SO MANY!! I'll pick one at random. The part in episode 14 where Mikey is about to be caught by Mystery Hunter in a red flag cabin and he goes
MIKE: No choice but to play it cool, I guess. Good old cool as a cu- good old cool as a cucumber Mike Walters. That guy never freaks out, what's up with that? (speaking quickly) I'm not freaking out. Would a guy's freaking out talk this slow, huh?
Rating out of 10
100/10. Hands down the best podcast ever.
It's got everything I ever wanted in a show. Gay people. High stakes. Crazy plots. Amazing music. Stupid inside jokes. An ARG. Pathetic men. Toxic relationships. Relationships that changes one forever. Time loops. Plots where people forget their loved ones and must fight to get them back (I'm such a sucker for those you have no idea). Funky villains who are in love with the protagonists. A cool fandom with basically no drama. A creator who cares about his project and his fans. Meat worms. Comedy-horror.
zerxus
I like him so much. he's everything to me. I'm gonna put him into the air fryer
What I think you look like:
EVERYONE SO MEAN 2 ME......

Jacob for the ask game
Sexuality Headcanon: I think the closest thing would be like. somewhere around gray-/demi- romantic and sexual bc I do not think he could everrrrr care about anyone but Fiona.
Gender Headcanon: cis guy. sorry </3
A ship I have with said character: I mean. fiona/jacob forever.
A BROTP I have with said character: uhh don't really have one but I think him and Vesta should be friends
A NOTP I have with said character: literally anyone but Fiona ajdhskbd
A random headcanon: if he had hair he would be blonde. to me.
General Opinion over said character: he's so sweet and I love him so much and I wanna just hug him. he's so precious and I just. gahhhhhhhhh.

Parkayne
this one is so funky because Parker basically doesn't exist in canon. All we know about him is that he was a tough bruiser PI who helped pull Arthur out of his alcoholism. But between fanon and just personal HCs I have such a strong idea of who he is and i don't think I'd ship it without that idea lol
Basically, to me its extra toxic blackrom in a setting without blackrom. and because like there isn't blackrom, that adds another layer! I love Kayne corrupting him until he's basically broken outside of their relationship. he haaaates Kayne but nobody else can give him what he needs now--and he only needs it because of Kayne.
send me a ship and I'll explain why I do or don't ship it
tropes: omegaverse, daemon au, slow burn
omegaverse: D+
my experience with omegaverse is basically
>looking for a new fic >ask the author if their omegaverse is subversive or gender essentialist >she doesnt understand >pull out illustrated diagram explaining what is subversive and what is heteronormative gender essentialism >she laughs and says "it's a good fic sir" >read the fic >it's gender essentialist
daemon au: B-
I won't seek it out, but if I see it and the plot is also appealing, I will click and enjoy seeing the decisions the author made for the AU. It's just not enough on its own to draw me in yknow?
slow burn: C
depending on how its written and my mood, I will either eat it up or be so bored and annoyed by it. I also don't read that much longfic so it doesn't crop up often in what I gravitate toward, like how slow can it be in <10k. but in the rare longfic I read, handled well, yeah I can enjoy it.

What was your most anticipated read? How did it stack up?
probably The Way of Kings; it was also my first read of the year. I was really excited to start Stormlight and it did not disappoint. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the series (even if I have somewhat mixed feelings on Wind and Truth), and it's a really really strong start.
Most Potential: an author who didn’t quite write a flawless classic, but you hope to read more of their work
I read The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by S.A. Chakraborty and while I felt a few things were clunky, overall I enjoyed it and am excited for the sequel this year. The narrative voice was really strong, probably my highlight. I also got the first book of her other series and will hopefully be reading that sometime soonish.
Did you DNF any books? Which ones?
A handful, not many in the context of 93 books read.
Dungeon Crawler Carl - fairly early DNF. the humor was not my style. it felt like it conflate being shocking with being funny. Also, litrpg is just not my thing. I heard lots of good things about character development later in the series but I just couldn't push past.
The Secret History - I am realizing I just don't like dark academia, and the novel failed to capture my attention because of that. Also learning that I can do a slowly paced book within my genres, but not usually outside.
Cry, Voidbringer - combination of my early copy being nigh unreadable due to formatting issues, and feeling like the worldbuilding was told and not shown. I got far enough that I felt I could turn in my review for the ARC and stopped.
The King's Men - I had kind of burnt out on the series and wasn't in the mood for it. So I chose to DNF and return later rather than push through and potentially spoil the rest of the series. When I want pure popcorn, I'll probably go back.
