My son said: "Dad, you look like the guitar is your prom date." And he's not wrong.
Back in December I dropped about $250 on a guitar kit. It's a disassembled guitar with all the parts, basically like a model airplane but instead of plane, a guitar. A Flying V is a silly but very cool instrument and the only way to justify one was on the cheap. I enlisted my friend Kevin Gullion who makes electric guitars for a living to instruct me. He was the master and I was grasshopper. Oh who am I kidding!? He put most of this together. Also, we pimped it out. Most of the parts are upgraded. He cut a new pickguard and, well if you add it up, it finally cost as much as a store bought cheaper version of the real deal, cheaper than a Gibson, around the same as a used Epiphone. Anyhoo, it was lots of fun and it pays to have talented people as friends because, if left to me, this would not have ended up a guitar at all, or possibly a really shitty one.
