Regular paprika will never be a substitute for smoked paprika. How dare he even suggest such a thing.

My friend @boarfeathers brought home a prickly pear last night, to add to her growing collection of pokey plant children.
In related news, I woke up this morning with four cactus spines in my arm 👍
Don’t get me wrong, I love all houseplants, and outside plants, and plants in general, and I’m glad we have more plants in the house, it’s nice. I also don’t mind cactus at all. I think it’s a requirement to growing up in the desert. My grandparents had a saguaro and several yucca in their yard, and our house had barrel cactus and prickly pears and cholla. Cactus are fun!
HOWEVER....THIS one BIT me!
Moose.
Warm moose = happy moose.
Warm, happy moose = bonus piggy personal temperature crisis.
Having spent half my life in the desert and the other half in the mountains, I’m in a weird cusp of being super content when I’m warm and able to handle the heat really well....while simultaneously being sturdy and stupid enough to go outside in a tank top while it’s snowing and be like “ok but it’s not THAT cold.”
I am so god damned itchy right now I CAN’T STAND IT 😭
And now I have to wear cut up socks medi-taped to my arms. It is my cone of shame.
But at least the tape is pretty with stars on it.
Happy New Year, mates!
It feels like a soup day. Probably cause it’s been snowing almost nonstop since last week. IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR SOME GARDENING WEATHER??!
For @boarfeathers. Enjoy your digital soup. Its probably clam chowder. I shall not digitally partake :P
In two days, Thorin and I are running away to Seattle for a week.
We deserve it.
This last season SUCKED and we’re both mentally and physically out of it.
But its also still two days away and the current lull we’re in, the pre-travel one, where you’re so full of anticipation that it all turns into anxiety about what you’re forgetting to do or pack or what have you, EVEN THOUGH ITS ALL ACTUALLY DONE AND YOUR BRAIN JUST HATES YOU.....It’s just killing us, mates.
Seriously, though, I haven’t been ocean kayaking since I was in grade school and I can’t freaking wait. Is gonna be good.
Boy, it is a happenin' day in the parking department, let me tell you.
And when Mondays are your Friday, things tend to drag a bit more than usual.
