the main problem is that they kept hinting at sha//llura, knowing that he is 25 and allura is a teen, as well as the problem of them making allura into this mammy character, separating her from the other teens in the group, having her hang more around the adult members of the group, drawing her to look more like an adult. like it seems like a big ass mess.

^^ we're two seasons into the show and allura's been distant from every one else in her age group even after getting to know them, which is partly why most ppl assumed she was older in the first place. also its hard to trust the writers w/ her after the reverse r@cism metaphor nonsense last season and sidelining her and the other dark-skinned characters

Okay so I’ve been talking to someone who’s been following these events since the reboot came about and:

Before

Show Execs: Shiro is 25 (the NYCC video I believe)

Writers/Marketing/Comic: Shiro’s a teen

Fandom: Fanon (combined with what the Execs said) is supreme!

Now

Writers: Allura is a teen (WonderCon video)  

Fandom: SHIRO’S A PEDO! FUCK K@ALLURA! KL@NCE WAS PROMISED(?????)! 

Me: What is happening here on this day???? Oh and happy birthday Pidge.

I agree with the both of you that Allura’s treatment within the show has been bad. I still get angry when I think about the mall episode and how she was made to stay in the shipcastle. She’s supposed to be a teenager but all she’s been is a mule/mammy for the Paladins. The Not All Galrans thing also made me mad because girl is facing the genocide of her people and the writers/fandom want to make her seem unfair/mean to Keith with the big reveal. 

The isolation of Allura was not necessary and honestly, I can’t blame people for being a bit confused on that part. However the reaction, I feel, is WAY over the top. Zuko (ATLA) didn’t act like a teenager yet people didn’t give a crap about that. Allura’s personality and reactions are heavily influenced by her upbringing and what has happened to her. I do wish that they would let Allura let her hair down more (figuratively and literally). If she’s supposed to be a teen then let her be a teen for goodness sake. 

The writers/execs/everybody on the show need to be united on what is and what isn’t. Allura needs better treatment (more nondiplomatic outings and friend moments). More backstory and cool down periods (I’m a fan of filler episodes as along as we get character development/explanations). 

@flyredact you are right this a complete mess. 

@poebrey it really does seem like the writers are flying by the seat of their pants and it’s getting really old.

I've actually never played Skyrim and I kind of have no interest in it??? I don't know why. I think it's because I want more space rpgs, I'm tired of high fantasy ones
