I and a friend is going to make sibling couple ocs and we know most of what we want on them. Colors and such~ BUT, we don't know pattern to make them look really cute and unique. How should we do?

here are some tips regarding unique designs!the number one thing to remember when you want to make a unique design is adding more and more markings wont do anything for it. the greatest character designs are always simple but memorable

always piece together your markings from simple shapes. you may think itll make the design boring, but clever arrangement and colour use can really enhance your design in combination with markings that arent crazily complex.

if you give a character sharp zig zaggy lines, dont then go on to add circles- it makes the design look just wrong and breaks up the composition. its also a good idea to use shapes that match the characters features, for example lots of sharp shaped markings on a spiked dragon

and finally, regarding matching characters. theres really no definite right way to do this, but i can give you some tips.

-you could palette swap the designs, so the marking are the same but differently coloured

-make their markings largely the same aside from a single important marking which is different

-make them largely the same with some variations every here and there in marking colour and shape.
