So That Happened
I'm going to do a blog before I pass out (and yes, it will be passing out)
If you haven't seen by my glorious spamming of the past week, Maddy Morris' album is avalible on the Spotifys and the Amazons and the iTunes. You should check it out, there's like references to Glee and Spring Awakening and some TRock if you can spot it. It's called Sorry Miss and it's pretty god damn cool and you should check it out
I'm writing this from Eddington Tower, the building on the left hand side of the picture you see above me. It's where I've spent most of the last 10 months and it's been my home for that time and soon it won't be. and by soon I mean like 17 days. (Picture Drawn by heaven-is-full-of-otters). It has also been the inspiration for the latest bag'o'awesome that's being kicked about at Frankly My Darling Records, Conor Myles' upcoming EP 'Year in the Lonesome Tower', a conceptual piece that explores the isolation of the place through the story of one man in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, contemplating his love, loss and his disconnection to reality.
Also there are vampires in it. Kids love vampires! All that violation and purity and whatnot wrapped up. And the bloodsucking, don't even get me started on the blood sucking.
The culmination of 2 years of work, condensed into 48 hours of recording, panic, aggression, making up again, cold coffee, wrong notes, right notes, oh so right notes, a mutual adoration for close part harmony and an unflinching desire to create the best thing we could possible create has lead to this. Starting by making the blood boil, moving to contemplation of the land that was once home, coming to terms with loss, coming out of terms with loss, and then just loss.
Look, I've only had about 3 hours sleep in the last 2 days, I'm not very coherent. Besides, I've still got to sort out artwork, putting muscle and flesh on the bone. I'm calling in favors from the 4 corners of the musical world. Metal heads, acoustic nuts, rasta hats, everyone. And it will be done. and great. and good
But it's coming
and it's good.
And stick around for more things coming soon
BETTER GIT IN YOUR SOUL
I've got a few days of freedom.
Guess I'mma work on Conor's album.
Let's do this
