#OnThisDay (October 4) In 1918, Japanese chemist Kenichi Fukui was born in Nara, Japan. He shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1981 with Roald Hoffmann for their theories, developed independently, concerning the course of chemical reactions. His work mainly focused on the development of the Frontier molecular orbital theory that describes the role of Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital (HOMO) and the Lowest Unoccupied Molecular Orbital (LUMO) in chemical reactions. #science #chemistry #nobelprize #FMOtheory #otd https://www.instagram.com/p/B3LyoR4gfva/?igshid=1lw5ly3c16260
