La Junta de Control Fiscal impuesta por el Congreso de EUA está destruyendo a PR, tratando de exprimir al pueblo despojándole de sus bienes, servicios y pensiones para pagar una deuda de $73 miles de millones - que rehúsan auditar – a ricos tenedores de bonos asociados a bancos y firmas financieras estadounidenses. Esos bancos y firmas fueron las mismas agencias que hicieron endeudar a PR. El pueblo está diciendo ¡BASTA! Y por eso lo están reprimiendo. Es hora de luchar y demostrar solidaridad con Puerto Rico, sus trabajadoras/es y su pueblo. The Fiscal Control Board imposed by the US Congress is destroying PR, trying to squeeze the people by stripping them of their properties, services and pensions to pay a debt of $73 billion - which they refuse to audit - to rich bondholders associated with US banks and financial firms. Those banks and firms were the same agencies that made PR indebted. The Puerto Rican people are saying ENOUGH! And that is why they are repressing them. It is time to fight and show solidarity with Puerto Rico, its workers and its people.

Teachers strike in Puerto Rico

A broad struggle against the privatization of public education in Puerto Rico began March 19 with a teachers’ strike as the Legislative Assembly tries to approve what it calls “educational reform.”

This call to action comes at a crucial time for Puerto Rico. It is now six months since hurricanes Irma and Maria and just three months before the new hurricane season begins, yet the devastation caused by the powerful storms has not been resolved.

Solidarity and Aid for the People of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean

Stand With All the People of the Caribbean: HURRICANE RELIEF NEEDED NOW!

The International Action Center is launching a People-to-People Aid Campaign for the ultra-devastated nation of Puerto Rico.

The IAC is collecting monetary donations to send to politically established grassroots organizations-specifically the Puerto Rico Teacher’s Federation (FMPR) which is working with other unions and groups organizing working brigades throughout the island to help poor communities, teachers and students who lost everything.

Long after the news of Puerto Rico is off the front pages, solidarity actions with Puerto Rico and all the Caribbean will be urgent.  The U.S. solidarity movement is now discussing People to People Work brigades as well as continued protests to demand real aid, not military occupation for Puerto Rico.  Furthermore, Trump’s arrogant actions toward Puerto Rico cannot be used by the Democrats to overlook the real issues. It was under a Democratic administration, Barack Obama, that the Promesa Act was passed, forcing Puerto Rico to pay the illegitimate debt of $74 billion!

Donate to the IAC at IACenter.org. 100% of the money collected will go to the FMPR with a message of solidarity against U.S. imperialism.

We are calling for:

Demand an end to PROMESA, repeal the Jones Act!

No privatization of the island.

Puerto Rico for the Puerto Ricans, not the banks!

Cancel the debt and pay reparations! No militarization of Puerto Rico!

Solidarity with the Virgin Islands, Haiti and all the Caribbean!
