Who is Midnight?

On the FOB Equestria forums, a topic was made for the purpose of logging info on the OCs of the military brony community for possible future use in military themed fanfics, artworks, etc. Below is what I wrote for Midnight, which is partially who I am right now and partially who I am striving to become.

Name of OC: Midnight Spangle

Saying which describes your OC: “Finding the light in the darkness.”

Race & Build: Pegasus. Midnight is slightly taller than the average stallion, with a slightly more well defined muscular structure as a result his military lifestyle, especially around his back and wings due to his rigorous flight training. His wingspan is noticeably wider than the standard proportions of the average pegasus, but only somewhat larger than one would expect for a stallion of his size, allowing him to look intimidating without looking odd when his wings are outstretched.

Colorization: Midnight blue coat with specks of white that resembles stars in the night sky; mane & tail are jet black with a long streak of gold in his mane that falls over his left eye; eyes are a gold/amber color.

Flank Mark: 7-Pointed, Light Blue Star.

Talent Description: Sometimes termed as an ability to “make his own luck,” Midnight has a knack for finding the good side, opportunity, or advantage to most situations. He has applied this talent to numerous situations throughout his life, but it has especially served him well in several aspects of the military.

Additional Info: He keeps his tail short enough to not be stepped on during excessive, rapid movement, but long enough so that it can be used to help manipulate his airflow during flight with small alterations. The black potion of his mane is kept short, if not a little messy due to his lack of care for how neatly it is cut, while the gold steak is left long and untrimmed to resemble the trail of a shooting star despite his comrades pointing out it’s vision obscuring trait. However, this is usually only a problem while on the ground due to winds sweeping it rearward during flight. He likes the appearance and considers it a minor concern that is easily compensated for. Generally upbeat and energetic, he is often seen with a smile on his face. His natural fondness of and liveliness during the night coupled with his odd natural appearance made him an easy candidate to recruit for the Night Guard of the Equestrian Air Forces (EAF). He initially served as an enlisted member, but later pursued an officer commissioning due to his desire to lead. He was a natural selection for a commission program slot due to his high scores on aptitude tests and general ability to inspire those around him. It is still relatively early on in his career, so it is yet to be seen if he will become the officer everyone hopes he is.
