Hii. Can you give me some tips on how to focus more on studying?
Hi there! Sure, I’ll try my best. I hope this helps. Good luck with studying!
Make mindmaps while studying. They don’t need to be extra pretty or neaty. You don’t need to include all your study material in one mindmap. For example if you are studying ancient states and you have trouble staying focused on learning about ancient Egypt, you can read through materials about Egypt and write create a quick mindmap while revising. It will help you stay focused.
Draw or doodle something you are trying to learn. This depends on what subject you are studying e.g. if you study biology and you wanna learn how each part of brain is called, don’t simply learn it from textbook, make your own drawing of brain… revise the parts of brain while drawing. Don’t worry if you are bad at drawing, this is not an art class so don’t spend too much time on trying to make it look super neaty. Creating the picture is supposed to help you get to remember things.
You should try to apply things you read about on real life. Learning theory can get boring after awhile, when you have trouble memorazing a definition think of a real life based example or search it up… I find “stories” much easier to remember and it helps me with memorizing definitions. Again this depends on what subjects you are studying.
Reading out loud helps you to memorize things. Read outloud if you have privacy.
Quiz yourself. You can use questions in your textbook (if there are any) or make your own questions. Create cards with questions, then randomly choose one and answer. It’s better to say answer the question out loud. You can even quiz each other with your friend.
Pretend you are teaching your family member or pet. This may sound a bit weird, but when it’s not just you it’ll be easier for you to fucus on the study matterial… this can help with learning vocabulary a lot! I mean, if you ask your sibling to quiz you then you will be “forced” to actually focus.
Remember you focus the most the first 20 mins you are studying your textbook/notes. Use the studying method that works well for you, I recommend you to only read trought the text during those first 20 mins (no need to underline/highlight anything yet, you’ll go back to it later) and try to read everything you are supposed to learn, after that you’ll have a basic idea what is each chapter about. Make the most of those 20 mins.
Eat a piece of chocolate or sugar (or fruit if you wanna eat healthy) each 20 mins. Your brain needs energy, which means you should eat something that contains sagar.
Coffee helps you stay focused. Don’t overdose though.
Listen to music without lyrics while studying. I recommend game and movie soundtracks. Here are my favourite these days:

Turn your phone off or log out of all your apps before you start studying.
Study in a quiet Enviroment. Also make sure you have everything you’ll need while studying before you start studying. Even a snack. Create a clean, organized place to study for yourself.
Don’t study in your bed.
Make a To Do List for the day.
Energy drinks will make you stay focused, but you certainly shouldn’t drink them often. Definitely don’t drink energy drinks if you have high blood pressure!
Don’t procastinate on using the bathroom.
Stay hydrated. Drink enough water.
