Learning how to harvest husk cherries. The kids loved their sweet, pineapple flavor! Searching for them underneath the plant and learning how to open them was fun too. They learned how to harvest a bunch of vegetables so that they can come back to the garden even after the summer camp is done and take home vegetables.
The kids making Meaghan a salad. They kept pretending to eat the zucchini but they were secretly putting it in her salad!
It's not only fun to eat veggies - it's fun to share them too!
The kids at Focus: HOPE did a veggie tasting day! It was a great last day in the garden.
Yesterday at Focus: HOPE the kids painted felt flags for us to sew together and make into a banner to hang in the garden. Jeremiah, 7, was the only kid to paint an insect. We talked to him about the importance of bees and what pollination means. His painting is pretty cute, right?
He was also very helpful. He wanted to carry the cooler back to the van with us, so we gave him a private tour of the garden. He was very happy to pick a cucumber to bring home!
It was a great first day in the Focused Hands Garden!
