Freak Occurrence February day 3 - Weapon Backfire

"Are you sure this is safe?" Xavier asked.
"It'll be fine, Xav. Just keep your finger on the trigger." Hunter pointed his shotgun at a can that he put on the stump.
Xavier noticed something off about the gun. He couldn't put his finger on it, but wasn't the chamber bulging? "Uhhh, Hunter, I think you should-"
"Relax. It'll be fine." Hunter said.
That would be the last thing he said as he pulled the trigger. The gun exploded.
Xavier's ears were ringing. He stared at his friend who was now writhing on the ground. He was covering his face, letting out a mixture of gurgles and screams. With shaking legs, Xavier took a closer look. He wished he hadn't.
Half of his face was blown off. Hunter was trying to keep his eyeball from slipping out of its socket. There were bits of flesh and bone scattered all over the grass.
What do I do...? What do I do...?
