On Second Thought

After they [the elderly couple she was waiting on] finished their entree I asked if they would like to see a dessert menu and they said yes, so I brought one over. After a few minutes, I went back to see of they'd made a decision and they said that they had wanted to order dessert, but after seeing my fellow server (referring to an overweight man who I work with) decided against it. It shocked me that they would say something so insensitive and I wanted to defend him, but I didn't want to be rude so I just smiled and brought them their check. It's hard to find the line between being polite and being kind.

Totally helpless

I served at a chain breakfast restaurant for a while, and we had many regulars. One day one of our regulars and I had a fantastic conversation. Later as I was grabbing stock (near the counter where he was sitting) I looked up to see this man with his phone pointed at me. When I asked what he was doing he told me he was telling his friends he was robbing the cradle. This man, who was at least 3.5 times my age was taking pictures of me WITHOUT my permission and sending them to his friends. Because he was a regular there was nothing I could do. I had to laugh it off and avoid that half of the restaurant until he was gone. I was on guard the rest of the time he was there, and every time he came in after.

Sex sells. Even when serving.

I had like 5 of the same black shirt. Noting special, but i bought it a size to small on purpose. On football game nights, when I would get the bar and all the guys my age would come in-or even older men- without their SO, just the guys, I would do like, a really subtle, smokey, sultry makeup style. I would always take a shower right before work and dry my hair until it was damp, not dry, and then put it in this side braid that I would then loosen up and make it a bit messy. It had this look of i-just-woke-up-in-your-bed-and-took-a-shower, post-sex look. And then I would wear these jeans that were form fitting. I wore my best bra and a red lace undershirt, and I would pull it down just a bit, just enough to show enough skin. And I would always wear a light, patchouli based fragrance, because patchouli is an aphrodisiac and I would laugh and giggle the whole night and flirt so hard. It was never obvious or like, made me seem like a ditz, but it would be subcounciously sexy.

A woman’s place

I had a customer who was a regular and about 7 months into working at the restaurant he told me that this is the profession I belong in and that he doesn't understand why we have male waiting staff. He said that I belong next to his table taking orders and I should leave the men in charge of the actual work.

Moonchild

One night a group of about 7 or 8 men, all in the age range of 30-40 came into my section, and almost all of them had wedding rings- I think like 4 out of the bunch. WellI went up and greeted the table and was talking and being polite and bubbly like I am naturally, and they were like, complimenting my hair and smile and laugh, and one of them, we'll call him Jon, kept it up till it was super duper creepy. So I turned around to get their drinks, and Jon goes (very loudly and obviously) "Wow! Nice view!" and I turned around and was like "Um excuse me???" And Jon replies with "Aw come on baby! don't turnaround! I need to see what you're working with!" and like, all the guys start laughing. And I got super frustrated and said something along the lines of how that was inappropriate. And another one of the guys goes "Oh come on! We just can't help admiring what your momma gave you!" SO I got super mad and like, went to get their beers and when I came back I was pretty cold towards them and at one point, Jon goes "hey hey hey im sorry alright. I have a serious question" and I kinda rolled my eyes and went to walk away and he goes "No seriously! Come here, it's important." So I walked back over and smiled at him and was like "well what is it. I have other tables to take care of" and he goes "so does the carpet match the drapes?!" and all the guys bust out laughing really obnoxiously and I was super pissed and told him how disrespectful that is and he goes "what? to ask a pretty young thing about herself? I don't think so, you should be flattered I'm even taking this much interest in you" So i stormed off and gave the table to another server after telling them what was going on (it was a male server) and when i would walk by they would say stuff like "shes so full of herself" "narcissistic cunt" "what a bitch" and at one point even something along the lines of "ugly bitch, I wouldnt have touched her anyways"
