College writing can kill the joy in it. I have an MFA and the most it did for me was make me hate myself and constantly write to pass instead of for fun or joy or love of the story. Don't let them rob you of that. I'm bitter and in debt and so scared of writing. Ugh. Remember: just write. Finish something and start something new. Keep the joy. Let your ladies be happy if they want to be. Someday some character may not want to be.

i’m sorry to hear that your MFA wasn’t fun for you. i hope you can write what you want to write, and write for you! there is nothing more fun, and people really can enjoy something that you originally just wrote for yourself.

I couldn’t do it. The final season. I couldn’t face it, knowing how it ended… knowing what it had started off as being… cut so short ahhhhh. It hurts.

I feel you, seriously. I put it off for like two years, and even knowing how it ended it still was so painful to watch. It was such a great episode though, the whole season was good.

I was tagged by the lovely foiledmonsters. I’m neither as eloquent nor as sophisticated as she is, but nevertheless, here are my answers.

1) Why did you choose your URL? I happened upon this British TV show called “Sherlock” soon after series two aired, and became very obsessed with interested in everything to do with it. A Scandal in Belgravia was my favorite episode, and I really liked the character of Irene Adler (yes, despite Steven Moffat’s arguably problematic writing). I guess I admire her for being so confident in herself and her sexuality - something that I’m decidedly not. I don’t ship Shirene, but I always thought that under different circumstances, they could have been great friends. So that’s why I decided to choose this URL.

2) What is your middle name? Mirjami (that’s Finnish, btw).

3) If you could own a fairytale/fictional pet, what would it be? I love the concept of daemons from Philip Pullman‘s His Dark Materials. I have no clue what mine would be, though. A raven or a rat, maybe? Though I think something from the canine family is more likely, tbh.

4) Favorite color? Anything on the color spectrum between green and blue.

5) Favorite song? I’m not really that into music, but I when I do listen to music, it’s usually an eclectic mix. After the first Hobbit movie, I fell in love with Ed Sheeran’s “I see fire”, and after watching the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, I listened excessively to “Hooked on a feeling”. I also really like movie scores (the one for The Imitation Game is fantastic, as is the Sherlock series three score). Oh, and since seeing this fantastically sexy fanvid, I always listen to Adam Lambert’s “Fever” whenever I feel down!

6) What are your top three fandoms? I’ll have to cheat a bit on this one... #1 is very easy, that’s Sherlock. Then there’s a big, big gap, and after that my top three fandoms are The X-Files, Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.

7) Why do you enjoy tumblr? Before falling for Sherlock, I hadn’t even heard of tumblr, so I have only ever experienced it through my Sherlock lens. I think it’s a great way to spread information fast, and to find people with shared interests. I love how my dash is filled daily with anything from brilliant fanart to meticulously catalogued creator quotes to fantastic fic to clever character metas to insightful cinematography analyses and SO MUCH MORE!
